No Family Or Friends

M M, on June 12, 2023 at 2:19 AM Posted in Family and Relationships 1 7
So my family doesn't really approve of my relationship. We've been together 11 years and have 4 kids together. We have had the good, bad, and ugly for sure. We have pretty much no friends. No family who wants to attend. They will if we force them but we don't want to do that obviously. My main concern is the biblical aspect. I hope biblically we don't need people there to be married in front of God.

Can't speak on anything religious, but why do your friends and family not like someone you've been with for over a decade? That's very suspicious.

You do not need any witnesses for your marriage to be recognized in the eyes of God.
Witnesses are only a requirement by certain state laws; so do make sure you check local laws where you will be married to see if they require witnesses.

I see red flags here. You mean everyone in your life still disapproves after 11 years and 4 kids?

It's mainly because he doesn't have a job. They think his worth depends on the amount of money he has.

I'm glad to hear your opinion on how suspicious it is to you. The point is that they won't show, it's not why they won't show. But thank you!

Playing devil’s advocate, many families have one person who they don’t approve of even if that individual did nothing wrong. Because they have different values, ethics, religion, social status, and the list goes on. Instead of punishing the individual by blacklisting them from the family, why not look for a found family among friends who don’t judge without reason?

What is relatives’ reasoning for the fiancé being a bad person? They aren’t the ones marrying this person. What does the Biblical aspect mean to you?
