No favors?

Alejandra, on October 2, 2019 at 9:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 13
Hi all,
My family is a very traditional Latino family and they love favors. FH’s family is white, I’m not sure how passionate they are about favors lol. We wanted to skip them altogether and make a donation of food and various items to an animal shelter in our guests’ honor. Would that make
anyone upset, do you think?

I think it's a great idea! Lots of favors get left over anyway.

We weren’t crazy about wedding favors either. We were actually going to rent a photo booth and have the pictures they took as a wedding favor. It’s fun, guests will actually keep, and it had our names/wedding date. We ended up just getting key bottle openers and wrote something along the lines of- thanks for being a key part of our lives.
Party favors can add up and not many use/take them so don’t spend too much on this especially if it’s not something people can use.

If they’re upset about it, they kind of suck.

Favors are totally optional! If you're worried they'll be super upset, edible favors like cookies work too!

My husband is from Guatemala and also has family who is passionate about favors. So we did them. We had 102 favors and around 50 guests and I think about 5 of them came home with us. Whoever wanted them took them and some people took two or three.

We skipped favors entirely, and no one has said a thing.

I love your idea, it's a great way to give back, and everyone can get behind helping a shelter!

I love your idea of donating. If favors aren't your thing, skip them. Favors are great if the couple wants to provide them and it fits the budget but they are not necessary.

I've never been upset a wedding didn't have favors. Yes, I prefer when weddings have them but it's never ruined my evening when they didn't haha!

FH was all about doing favors... up until I showed him how much what he was wanting to do would cost. Once he realized how expensive they can be, we decided that we wouldn't be doing favors. Most weddings I've been to either haven't had them, or I never took any.
