No Flowers for Flower Girl?

IronMaiden, on April 21, 2018 at 9:32 AM Posted in Planning 0 42
Our venue does not allow anything to be thrown- rice, pedals, etc. . Which means I have a flower girl who can’t throw flowers. She’s nearly two, so I don’t think anyone is actually going to notice or care that an adorable toddler in a cute dress who’s waddling down the aisle looking at everyone with her big brown eyes, is not actually throwing them. But I feel like maybe she should have something to hold?

I thought possibly of a wooden dowel with some fake flowers hanging off of it (although in actuality, that could look really terrible- especially if I’m making it...).

Anyone else have a no flower flower girl or any suggestions?

Thanks! Smiley heart

I would check on specifics because while my venue doesn't allow rice, confetti etc to be thrown, they do allow real flower petals because they can decompose. Are you inside or out?

Why don't you just get her a smaller bouquet to match the bridesmaids?

I’ve seen people have them hold kissing balls or a cute little sign.

I forgot to mention that it’s too late to add anything to my floral order and I don’t feel comfortable trying to design a small bouquet out of fake flowers that may look similar to the florists work.

What are kissing balls? That sounds intriguing.

Unfortunately they don’t allow anything. Not sure why since we are getting married in a rose garden, but it’s very strict.

That's crazy, so are we, but they are supplying rose petals for us to throw as a part of our floral package. Smh what do they expect for you to do?

My GF will be about 18months. I'm thinking I either want to do a ribbon wand with her, or I just bought some stuffed flowers that I'm wondering if she'll like to hold. I figure even if she just walks it will look good. I'm hoping to have petals line the aisle before hand anyway

It’s essentially a ball of flowers that can be hung or carried.

Ours is an 1880s Victorian Mansion owned by the city. It’s a historical landmark and it’s basically all DIY, which is why it’s inexpensive (for this area) and you pay by hours of usage. Because of those factors they are very strict with what’s allowed and what isn’t. And because they also offer no staff for setup and strike, they don’t trust that the couples vendors will clean it up (I assume).

Yeah, who’s really going to complain about an adorable child?

A ribbon wand is a great idea! My girlfriend just did those for her wedding at the end of each row so as they walked back down the aisle, everyone waved them around. Maybe I’ll look into that for Lucy. Thanks!

Ah, that makes sense. What about just a single flower, or a few flowers tied together with a ribbon? Or a ribbon wand? If she's older and you're doing anything like a unity ceremony, maybe she can carry a basket with supplies.

I've seen where the flower girl walks down the aisle holding a sign that says "here comes your bride". Very cute idea!

She will be almost two, and we aren’t doing a unity ceremony, but I like the ribbon wand idea!

When I was a flower girl many years ago in my aunts wedding, I just had a basket with fake flowers in it. It was like a small arrangement. I just walked down the aisle with that and no one even noticed. I also had a flower crown.

My flower girls will just have flower crowns. I think they will either carry a sign or be pulling my future niece/nephew(s) in a wagon down the aisle if there are any others before my wedding next year.

My flower girl will be about two by the time we marry and we are having her hold a single bloomed rose or a daisy down the aisle.

My girls are carrying a larger single stem flower. We can’t have petals either and they still wanted a flower
