No Flowers

Kim2014, on April 9, 2013 at 9:08 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 20

I have been considering not having any flowers at my wedding. I brought the idea up to FH last night and he looked at me as if I had antlers growing out of my head! Smiley smile I have never been one who really loves flowers. I am considering making a brooch bouquet for my and pearl bouquet for MOH. (she is my only wedding party) I am still looking for alternative ideas for the MOB, MOG, FH, RB. For centerpieces I have been thinking about using leaves and lanterns (fall wedding) I know some have strong opinions on weddings and there having to be flowers. Is anyone else not considering using flowers in their wedding?

Plenty of brides don't use flowers. I'm not sure I understand the idea that they're mandatory. We had some, but kept it limited to save some money. Bouts can be made out of anything! There are tons of creative ideas around the internet (my favorite is the bride around here with golf tee bouts!) and same with the corsages. What would go with your theme?

I think you ideas sound great! Just remember you are the bride and this is your day, don't let anyone push you into something just BC "that's how weddings should be." Good luck!

I'm not a huge flower person either but I always thought I'd have them at my wedding. I've seen plenty of pictures where people didn't use flowers and it still looks good! Google away! Check out Etsy for DIY ideas also!

I am using minimal flowers - did the brooch bouquets with real touch roses for me and my 2 girls. Have not figured out the bouts yet. No flowers for the chapel. Think we are doing three types of Centerpieces and only one will have flowers. Will be getting a box or two of white roses and hydrangeas from Costco. I just can see the expense of flowers for one day.

I agree do whatever you want it is your day.

The only flowers we are having are the bouquets and GM boutonnieres. The rest of the decorations are silk fall leaves, fall garland, apples, pumpkins, etc. I've seen a lot of pics of Fall wedding were the bouquets are simply wheat or berries.

You could use pumpkins or apples in your centerpieces for a fall wedding. I agree with the others...its your wedding. Also add cinnamon sticks to centerpieces for a delightful aroma...if you like cinnamon. Just thoughts.

You really don't have to use flowers. We had a pocket square for my H and his BM. We skipped corsages because something about them creeps me out. Same with the RB, they're usually cute either way.

Also, be careful about using anything too aromatic (like cinnamon sticks) if you're serving dinner.

I think fall lantern centerpieces are absolutely lovely! Here's an example.

Good point...Mrs. S. In my thoughts just one or two cinnamon sticks per table and I was invisioning a large banquet hall or open venue in my mind with plenty of air circulation.

It was the thoughts of apples and pumpkins and crisp fall air.

We only used them for the bouquets (and even those I was open about, Me and the moh went to the grocery store the day befoer and bought seasonal flowers, $80 for everything) for us budget was the issue and broaches etc were more expensive. Our wedding was also fall. I made the boutineers with some straw, berries and burlap, and our tables had a table number which I painted each of them on cardstock and they were planted into half mini birch stumps. I got chocolate brown tabel runners, and mini buschels, filled with apples from the orchard, also got some silk leaves and tossed a bunch on each table. Looked great, each table decor probably came out to about $30 including all that stuff.

We did ornament bouquets and ornament centerpieces that doubled as a guest book. At the last minute, we did flower bouts simply because I couldn't figure out an ornament bout that I was happy with.

    But, yeah, non-flower power!

I am having a non floral wedding as well. I have a brooch bouquet that one of my MOH's made for me. My MOH"s will carry clutches, FH & GM will do pocket squares insted of bouts, the FG's will carry signs that say "Here Comes The Bride". My center pieces are vases with a pillar candle in them, with sand (well salt because its cheaper) in them with pearls and faux diamonds scattered inside the vase and a candle wrap on the candles. I love non floral weddings....well I guess I would because Im not a traditional bride my no means.

Pinwheels might be cute too but I am not sure if they would fit in with my fall theme

it sure does save lots of money although by the time I have completed my brooch bouquet I will probably have spend to close to what it would cost for a real flower bouquet, but I get to keep it as a keepsake
