No Hard Alcohol Signature Drinks

Laudie, on March 21, 2013 at 5:09 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 29

I really want to have a signature drink but we can't have hard alcohol. I was thinking Sangria but I don't think FH is too into the idea. Does anyone have any more ideas, maybe with beer as the main ingredient?

Have you considered a white peach sangria? less of the wine taste.

I don't know of any beer cocktails or drinks...

I know way back, someone posted a mega list of mocktails. I'll see if I can find it...

Are you just trying to avoid hard liquor or are you not allowed to have alcohol at all? If you're allowed wine, you can do the sangria, a wine spritzer, maybe mimosas or bellinis...

Here ya go, long list of mocktails starting on page 2:

We have to pay an extra $1000 for the temporary hard alcohol license so we decided against it.

    Thanks for the thread!

There is a margarita recipe using wine, I think..... or maybe it's beer.

Sorry, I'm not much help but I know it can be done!

I had thought about billinis but when I said sangria and bellini FH made a look like those were both girly. I think he wants something a bit more manly haha

Does no hard alcohol mean no schnapps or liqueurs as well?

There is something called a lunchbox we used to have in college... it was quite disgusting! Beer, orange juice, and amaretto

    Sparkling Punch Recipe

Stir together 1 (12-oz.) can frozen pink lemonade concentrate, thawed, and 4 cuprs white cranberry juice cocktail in a large pitcher. Cover and chill 1 to 24 hours. Stir in 1 qt. club soda, chilled, just before serving. Garnish, if desired, with fresh mint sprigs.

For Champagne Punch, substitute 1 (750-milliliter) bottle extra-dry Champagne or sparkling wine and 1/4 cup club soda, proceed with recipe as directed

Well, he has beer, you can have sangria, you each have something! Smiley smile

But most things with only wine or champagne likely lean a bit more girly, so he may need to just suck it up and enjoy his beer.

I found this drink that is just equal parts lager and cider.. it's called a snakebite. It might be a hit at an October wedding.

Have you considered a sochu based cocktail? It will meet your alcohol % requirements.

    Beer cocktails -

    Shandygaff

6 ounces cold beer or ale

6ounces cold ginger beer, ginger ale or lemonade

Lemon zest or mint sprigs for garnish

Pour equal amounts of beer and ginger beer into a chilled glass. Stir gently. Garnish with lemon zest or mint sprigs.

    Happy Mich

The Michelada is a refreshing cocktail, originally from Mexico, made with beer, lime juice, and hot sauce, served in a salt-rimmed glass over ice. Cocktail consultants The Tippling Brothers created several variations of the Michelada, including the Happy Mich, for Mercadito restaurants in New York. It retains the spicy/soothing format of the original beer cocktail, and brings some interesting hot seasonings, cooling watermelon, and hibiscus flavors
