I finished my hair and makeup trial tonight for my August wedding and while I loved my hair, my makeup was just…. Well, plain. I felt like I left my trial looking like I had no makeup on!!! It was less than my every day makeup as I get pretty glammed up usually….
I’m good at my own makeup (in my opinion hehe) and would prefer to do my own on the big day. I’ve done my own makeup for lots of big events and always get compliments. I also have pretty dark circles and she refused to put more concealer on… when I got home my fiancé even said it looked like I had no makeup on. She also refused to contour my face.. highlight my Cupid’s bow, line my lips… literally anything no I asked she said not her style and I felt super awkward. She was super nice but she just had a style conflict makeup wise. It was nothing like the inspiration photos I shared with her.
I’d like to only move forward with her for hair and not makeup. How do I tell her I’d rather do my own makeup without offending her? My other option would be to have her do my makeup and just touch it up entirely afterwards to what I want, which I almost think is more offensive to cover up her work? What would you do?
