No makeup?

Mary, on January 30, 2020 at 1:59 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 1 14
I don’t wear makeup other than mascara... Is it a no-no to go sans makeup? Or anyone have advice for finding an artist who won’t make me look like an entirely different person?

Try getting a trial run before hiring the make up artist or a family friend

I did my own makeup because I knew I wanted really light makeup and I didn’t trust anyone else to not make me look too made-up. I wore a foundation/concealer/blush to even out my skin tone, some lipstick, eyeshadow, very thin eyeliner only on the top lid, and mascara.

Ughhhh I guess I’m mostly nervous because everyone’s conversations on here have said that they had inspirational looks to take with him, and because I don’t wear makeup I don’t feel like I have anything I want to look like, you know?

I would find a MUA and talk to them about what you are looking for and ask for a trial. Many of them will give you a very natural look but be clear about what you want.

You can ask for a soft natural and they usually just enhance your look. I searched it on pinterest to give you an idea. Hope it helps. Of you can always go natural and a gloss Smiley smile

I actually went make up free for my wedding. i am a person that doesn't wear make up at all on any day or any occasion so i felt like that's what i wanted for my own wedding, to just be myself

The only thing with going makeup-free is that if you have Flawless skin then it works because I don't know if you plan on having a professional photographer there but it will catch those things. I would just ask yourself would you look back at pictures and think you should have had at least a little bit of foundation? I would say find a makeup artist or honestly don't even spend too much money and just go to Mac or Sephora and maybe have them figure out something. You can still have a natural look but have some makeup on. I know for me I don't have horrible skin problems but I definitely have some blemishes I would love covered up for the day of and probably some bags under my eyes I could cover up to hahaha. Just maybe look up natural makeup looks and see if you see some inspiration there.

I only ever wear eyeliner, mascara, and eyebrow powder/pencil. I kept reading articles that said brides should absolutely have their makeup done professionally because you'll look "washed out" in professional photos if you don't. I hated the idea of having a bunch of products caked on my face that I've never worn before, I want to look and feel like myself on my wedding day. So when we got our engagement pictures done, I only wore my usual makeup and some lipstick, no skin products. I'm so happy with the way our photos turned out and I look like myself in them! I don't look washed out at all (in my opinion) and I felt comfortable. So I'm not doing any sort of full-face makeup for my big day, maybe just some eyeshadow and a nice lipstick. To me, even the "natural makeup" look is too much on my skin to feel comfortable.

I've personally never seen a bride not wear makeup, even if she wants a natural look. A good artist will easily be able to put makeup on while still keeping you looking natural.

It's what you feel comfortable with. Personally I think a bride should look like the best version of her authentic self on her wedding day, so if you usually don't wear a lot of makeup I would not start on your wedding.

I do think a little makeup can go a long way though, and its possible to have a look with makeup that looks very fresh, natural, and not overdone. I think its important to be VERY CLEAR with your makeup artist about the look you are going for and it helps to have sample photos to show what sort of look you are going for. I would definitely do a trial too, because you can hopefully clear up everything with your MUA before your big day.

I don't wear makeup often and when I do it's with a light hand, but I know how pretty I feel when I put makeup on and it looks good. I am having my makeup professionally done for the wedding. Here is my Pinterest inspo board for my wedding:

I would suggest a trial run and even airbrush makeup!

You can for sure get a soft, natural makeup look. Speak to a MUA and explain that you want to look as natural as possible. I am sure that they will have solutions for you since I'm sure they are all too familiar with that.

I say if you feel comfortable with it, do it!

My skin is horrible so I want to wear minimal makeup just to cover the discoloration and uneven tones. I agree with all PP's that I don't want to walk down that aisle and him see a completely different person. He sees my natural all day, everyday and isn't a fan of the "caked on". My MOH's think I should just go all out and do it up but I'm very low maintenance and it would feel like I was faking.
