No new date?

Melanie, on April 12, 2020 at 4:52 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 10
Who is a spring 2020 bride unable to get a new date? We were originally scheduled for 5/3 and now just 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ waiting to see when we can plan for somewhere sometime. Kind of sucks.

Does your venue have no upcoming dates at all? Did you try a different day of the week like a Friday or Sunday ?

I had a Sunday date and they said no 2020 dates could go into 2021. So, just waiting for my money to come back to me and try planning from Square 1 again.

Oh wow. They didn’t have any dates in 2020 either ? At least you’re getting a refund. This whole situation is horrible.

Late summer dates would have cost more money. Not trying to go over budget. But also just waiting for a refund because it’s not 100% that I’ll get money back Smiley sad this whole thing does suck.

How do you feeL about the fall or early winter ? I hope you get all if not most of it back. I know it’s a business and they need to make money but some of these venues can be so callous when it comes to their customers.

Wasn’t what I wanted. Also, don’t know that I’ll be able to take off work then. At this point, I just want next spring or summer. But if I don’t get my deposit, I’ll be okay it’s the other THOUSANDS of dollars I’d like to see back. But like you said, they’re a business too and can be so stingy.

Is your fiance okay with pushing it off for another year? I know it was more important to us to be married than when we got married. While fall and winter might not be the ideal time of year, I would think it would be better to get married at a venue where you won't lose any money then not at all.

Yes he doesn’t care when we get married. If we don’t get our money back then we have to save up money again for another venue. It took us over a year to save up for this wedding. We want to be married but there’s no rush to do so. If it takes another year + then so be it. We don’t know when the world will “go back to normal” so we can’t plan anything anyway.

I'm right here with you!! All other venues are either booked or WAY out of price range.. We are kindof up in the air now.. Not sure if we will get married 6/6 or not and have a reception later or if we are going to figure something else now. We do know that no matter what we will be getting married this year, but when and where are still TBD..

I will say though - the thought that maybe we can just go to another state and just elope its really appealing to me now. While this is all so stressful ive found a sense of Freedom in it all.. Like all your guests know you tried to plan this wedding and it didn't work out so i feel like there is just not as much pressure for whatever happens next

I agree completely! The thought about eloping is strong but can I still wear my dress during an elopement?! Do I still hire a photographer or just wait for the TBD friends and family ceremony and reception? It’s all so up in the air but guests have all been super understanding which has been nice.
