No one showing up????

Dj Tanner, on March 4, 2021 at 2:33 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 10
Hey brides,

My fiancé and I were watching that show cheapest weddings and we saw one couple where hardly anyone even showed up to their wedding....
It got me thinking... has anyone here ever gone to a wedding where hardly anyone showed up, or has anyone ever had a wedding where no one ever showed up?
I did have a dream...nightmare* about this once, but I’m just curious to hear about anyone’s experience if you’d like to share!

We went to a wedding once where H was in the wedding and the bride and groom only had about 30 people show up and half those left right after dinner. The bride and groom said they were expecting 50. To be fair, they never actually sent out invitations and had their wedding at a hotel that was 2+ hours away from where we all live and didn’t actually do RSVPs so I think that’s the reason their numbers were “off”. Some of the people that came weren’t invited until the week before the wedding too so I’m not sure they even really invited everyone they said they did.

Wow! It’s so interesting to see the different takes that different couples have about their big day. Did they seem like they were OK with it or were they upset?

So I have never been to a wedding where no one showed up. I did go to one where there was like 20 people but apparently they planned it really poorly and over half of the people were stuck in a snow storm in another state or otherwise I guess they would have been there. The couple didn't really seem upset about it too much they just ended up live streaming it for all of those family members who couldn't make it. But I think as long as guests are given enough notice then I don't see why people wouldn't come

I've been to a couple where no one showed up and one where everyone skipped out on the reception because of a rude couple (that was a military redo where they told guests they were marrying that day even though they had been legally wed a month but failed to tell anyone prior so no one appreciated being lied to). One was where the couple decided to save money and use all digital invites. Guests were waiting for paper invites for a formal event that they never received so didn't take it seriously.

I know! I agree with your last statement… My fiancé and I have gone to a few weddings where we were surprised that we even went haha, but at the end of the day no matter how bad the food is or how we had to cover everyone’s drinks because it was a cash bar no one brought cash except for us, it is about the people that you care about getting married and when all else fails you can still dance your butts off!

Wow! Interesting about the digital invites! I thought that was like a new thing, but I personally love paper invites myself. We will be doing digital RSVPs, however

The bride was pretty mad, but the groom didn’t really seem to care.

This was before places like Minted and PaperlessPost specialized in wedding invites so they looked like generic birthday party invites.

Wow! Was the bride upset? I don’t know maybe it’s just me, but unless it’s requested by the bride and groom, I can’t imagine only showing up to a reception and “skipping” the ceremony.
