No open flame at venue - help!

A., on May 9, 2018 at 9:44 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 8

Hi all,

my venue has a no open flame rule. this stinks because when i envisioned my wedding, it was filled with candles! i know there are no flame candles, which is what i will probably have to do.

How did you mask/What did you do regarding tea/lights votives to make it look natural? Did you place them in tinted holders so that they look like real candles, etc?

There are nice LED votives out there. I was at a restaurant the other day that had an LED votive and I didn’t realize it was an LED until FH pointed it out- the light flickered and everything.

Did you double check about having the candles in tall glass vases? My venue has a no open flame policy, but allows real candles to be lit as long as they are in tall glass vases with the glass extending past the top of the flame. Some venues have a specific height of glass above the flame as well. Just something to clarify before you try to find realistic fake candles. Best of luck!

My venue has no open flame policy - which is interpreted to mean that the flame can't be above the top of the rim of the glass. I am still going to use votive candles as those flames will be lower than the top of the glass holder. i will also have lit candles inside lanterns. What I am staying away from are pillar candles or taper candles (as those would need to be surrounded by a glass hurricane and that seems like more trouble than it's worth). Have a conversation about this with your venue.

They make LED votives that even flicker like a flame! They’re just as pretty...and safer. 😊❤️

My venue also has the no open flame venue but it like others have said just means that the glass it in must be taller then the candle.

When I realized my venue didn't allow open flames, I researched the LED candles and found some really nice ones, on Amazon even. But like PP have said, I asked more questions at my venue and found out I can use really flames as long as it's before the height of the glass.

Same here - no open flame, but they're ok with anything in a glass holder, including votives. Definitely double check!

We are using a lot of string lights. We have a no flame policy and just went with floral centerpieces.
