I want to make it crystal clear that my guests don't get plus ones. Is it tacky to put something on the website for example: "Due to the intimacy of the venue, we are unable to extend invites for plus ones, unless otherwise specified. We hope you to see you there!" Is this tacky? We are inviting...

We are inviting couples who are living together, engaged, and/or married. But people who are single or who have only been dating for a few months we are not (I understand not everyone may agree with this but this is the rule we are sticking to to save money!)

Is it tacky to put something on the website? I'd love to hear any advice. Thanks.

ANYONE saying its tacky, is stupid. I'm having an event soon where I have to pay for EACH persons plate, so it HAS to be clear not to bring anyone extra with you that I did not invite because I have a set budget, that I'm not going over for someone I didn't even invite, there is also a max limit on party guest, so imagine.. you didn't know that extra people couldnt come and you've driven 40 min away for my event where you have no seat and no plate. when it could have simply been avoided by saying no plus ones upfront.

and I say this because I was speaking to one of the ladies I invited and she's like "yeah me and my aunt Sheryl are gonna ride together" but I didn't invite her aunt, and would have never known that she planned to bring her, so her aunt would have shown up , like I said, to no plate and no seat.

I hope you realize that this thread is over six years old and you’re insulting people who are mostly no longer here to see it.

It’s not an either or situation. If you properly address invitations then all you have to do is follow up individually with anyone who replies inappropriately. Seems pretty clear to me without insulting the intelligence of the entire guest list. It worked for us.
