My FH and I are both in our 30's and have our own places. We are opting out of having a gift registry, since we are going to spend a ton of time trying to go through what we have already and decide what we keep and what we donate. We are giving the option of giving to a honeymoon fund or donating to a charity of their choice on our behalf. I joked that I should ask people to donate to a dog fund - I really want a cockapoo!

Please tell me we are not the only ones. My FSIL just got married this year and she joked to me, "You just toss it all and get new stuff!" Smiley laugh

Oh that would have been beautiful. I have family from VI. Covid is something else, man. I'm just ready for all this to be over.

You can absolutely have a dog fund! On Zola you can create multiple different "funds" and people can gift to whichever one they want.

My partner and I are in our 30s too, but tbh a lot of what we have could use an update. So we will definitely have a registry for those items that would be nice to have, but too much of a splurge to get ourselves.

Me too! Who thought we all would have to become resilient planners and learn how to change and alter every plan we ever made to just get married?! Some days, pulling my hair out seems like the only option...

Agreed!! 😂 I just got a French Bulldog puppy and really want another one for him to play with but FH isn’t excited about the idea of dropping another $5,000 for a dog. So I told him I’m going to register for one 🤣🤣

YES! So exhausting. I'm sure your new plans will be just as wonderful! If we have to change ours, then I'm sure we'll be able to come up with something as well. Guess we'll find out soon enough lol.

We’re not registered anywhere as we already own our home & have the stuff to fill it. I don’t agree with what your FSIL says about throwing out your things! We’re opting for a honeymoon fund.

She said it jokingly. Her and her husband are in their 20's and just starting their home together. 😁

Awesome! Starting your home together can be fun! I’m trying to get FH to replace all the flooring throughout the house! His response is “wedding or house? We can’t do both right now...” We remodeled both bathrooms & made over our bedroom 2 years ago- fun but stressful!

How long have you and your FH been together? My FH and I don't live together yet, but I remember 2 years into our relationship he bought a King size bed for the master bedroom. He just said, with a smirk, that he was thinking ahead. Almost 2 more years have passed and now we are finally tying the knot. Smiley laugh

Slowly we have been doing small upgrades to the house. I finally got rid of the tan/beige walls and ceiling in the dining room and kitchen. Feels so much more homey and brighter! Bathrooms are next and then the kitchen! SO many projects, but totally worth it.

First time around we were together 11 yrs & broke it off for 6 yrs. When we broke up I moved to the Phoenix area & tried my best to forget about him but every guy I dated, I compared them to him. I’m glad we had those 6 yrs apart because we had a lot of growing up to do. In 2016, I came back to northern AZ for my grandfather’s 100th birthday party & I asked him if he wanted to meet for dinner. Had some amends I had to do. He came around the corner, my heart skipped a beat and butterflies in my stomach! I knew right then that he was & always be the one for me... & I thank my lucky stars that he felt the same way! He bought & paid off the home we live in but he’s never done any updates. He still has a white ceiling fan with gold trim above the dining room table! I wanted it to feel like our home, not just a bachelor pad. After the dust settles from the wedding, we’re going to start with the spare rooms (paint & flooring). I want the same flooring in the living room, dining, kitchen & the hallway. Take out our wood burning fireplace & put in an insert- it snows where we live.

My FH and I have been living together for years, and bought our house last year. The last thing we need is more stuff! We don't have a registry. We've had some guests ask our parents and they just told them if they feel inclined to give us a gift, cash/check is best. Feels rude asking/expecting money, but we don't need any more tangible items. If people are less inclined to give us something without a registry, I'm fine with that. Honestly just hoping all of our guests feel comfortable enough to show up- that's gift enough! I think non-traditional registries, like honeymoon funds, are a lot more common, or even having no registry at all. I don't see the point in registering somewhere for a bunch of stuff you don't actually need!

My fiancé and I don't have a registry, we've been together for nearly 10 years and have a decently stocked house. We are allowing people to vote for our honeymoon destination though if they bring cash/checks. It's not expected, and was a big hit at a friend's wedding
