No Registry at Lowes or Home Depot?

Sherry, on December 29, 2014 at 5:20 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

FH & I went to register this last weekend and we figured we would register at Macy's or Kohls and then a home improvement store like Home Depot or Lowes since we both have houses but we chose to rent mine and live in his 1910 house that has much more character but also needs a few projects done, plus FH is a general contractor so we figured it would be handy to put some items down for these projects, but both of them said no they don't have a registry.....it seemed a bit od, I am sure there are a lot of engaged and newly married couples out there wanting to do home projects. Guess we will stick with the basics. FH was pretty bummed...he was looking forward to zapping sku#'s and making a little list. Smiley sad

Nope--I've heard home depot technically has one, but it's only for the physical store where you register (so your guests would have to go in to the store and they just get a print out of the things you like). They may not do even that anymore.

I would suggest Amazon. That's where we are registering for all the tools and things FH wants, like a grill.

I think Home Depot has a 'wish list" - I know my friend registered there b/c they had just bought a new house.

We're doing Cabela's, but they don't have a registry either, just a "Wish List" that acts almost entirely the same, just without all the bad advice you get on sites like BB&B.

Yeah I don't know why places like that don't have a registry. They need to get with the times! We used Amazon's universal registry option, to add a few things from Lowes to our Amazon registry.

They should!! You could always try Target, they have some home things (ladders, tools, etc.)

Yeah I'm pretty sure Home Depot has a wish list but its only for the store you register at and there's no way for guests to search online for it. You could try Sears or an Amazon registry or if people ask you could say you're saving money for home improvement projects and then hopefully they'll give you cash or gift cards.

We wanted to register at one of those stores as well, but since they don't have anything we are doing the Amazon Universal Registry. This was a good compromise for us!

You could use Amazon's Universal Wish List to register items from either site online.

When I first mentioned registering, the first thing my FH said was Home Depot lol. It would definitely be a great idea for them to have that option.
