No Wedding Party, Straighten train?

Katy, on October 7, 2023 at 6:45 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

Hi, we are not having a wedding party for various reasons. This will seemingly cause no issues (we have an alternative for who's holding the rings, for example) except that I won't have someone to straighten my train. I will be walking up some steps to the altar then turning to meet my spouse, so I know it will get twisted. It seems awkward to have someone run up the stairs to straighten my train, but also silly to have a maid of honor just for this one sole purpose. I know this is kind of silly, but the question is nagging me :-) Any ideas/thoughts?

Do you have a day of coordinator? If so, you could have them already at the top of the stairs. They could quickly straighten out your skirt on the way back down the stairs.

I don't see anything wrong with having someone in the front row come up and straighten your train.

I’d just ask an inmediate family member to step up at the appropriate time. I don’t know why that would be awkward.

I’d have your mom or a female relative seated in the front row step up to straighten your train.

I think almost any female up front would be happy to help you. Honestly, it might be really adorable if your husband did it.. That would be completely unconventional, but heart warming.

Id ask someone who will be seated in the front row to do it. Ask them in advance. Try to practice the logistics of it with them.
