Non-diamond engagement rings? O.o

I can't help but LOVE this ring, but I'm afraid everyone is going to be a little judgmental and think my (nearly) fiance is just cheap. We haven't gotten a ring yet, although we're planning our wedding and consider ourselves sudo-engaged . He wants to be able to plan something big and "surprise"...

We haven't gotten a ring yet, although we're planning our wedding and consider ourselves sudo-engaged Smiley xd. He wants to be able to plan something big and "surprise" me, and I know he's been saving for a while.

My thing is, I feel like we'd be getting a traditional ring mainly to please tradition. *sigh

Anyways, any of you guys have non-traditional rings? Any gemstones?

What do you think of my dream ring? (pssssst, only $220!!) Morganite just feels so... me. Smiley smile

I just made a post about this, I really need to remember to do a search before I make a thread! (Still learning the ropes of this site)

I always pictured a yellow stone for my ring. I told my FH that I really wanted a yellow sapphire and now I have a beautiful ring that I'm in love with. No one has ever questioned why I don't have the traditional diamond, and instead mentions that the ring is so me. At the end of the day you will be the one looking down at the ring for the rest of your life. Go with the person and ring that will make you happy!

It's probably best you didn't. Pearls are not meant for everyday wear, especially on your hands. They are soft and get damaged very easily. As a jeweler once told me, "pearls are for a lunch wife". Meaning wives who don't do anything.
