Non-title bridal party

Donna, on October 15, 2021 at 12:00 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

We are an older couple (54 and 60) and are planning an October 2022 wedding. Small, intimate, and formal. We have 2 couples that are our closest friends and want them to stand up with us. We are planning to ask them to be in the wedding but do not know how to "title"/address them, or not title them, if that makes sense. As we are older, and they are as well, we want it to be fun without the traditional titles of bridesmaids or groomsmen. Any suggestions on how to ask them as couples to be part of our big day? We are thinking of a gift box with the typical goodies and ask them if they would be our______________. Thanks in advance!

"Will you stand next to us on our big day?" That's what I would ask.

I agree with this! I would also recommend waiting to give them the gift boxes until after they accept. Sometimes, those gift boxes can make people feel pressured.

Agree with this. Also many times people ask friends to be an “honorary” bridesmaid, which it isn’t an honor in reality. You either should have them as actual bridesmaids/groomsmen or guests with no titles.
