Non-Traditional Vegas Wedding...

jpeterson, on May 12, 2009 at 10:15 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 17

I'm considering getting married in Vegas-but not at one of those fly by night chapels with Elvis... I'm looking at a service called Scenic Las Vegas Weddings...

http://www.sceniclasvegasweddings.com/

Anyone from Vegas that might have an opinion? Or for that matter any opinions? I'm just looking at the work involved in planning a wedding and thinking that I might just be better off doing something like this... It's more expensive than a wedding on the strip, but it seems less tacky, kwim? The pics on this website are absolutely awesome...If I had to pick today, I'd pick the Valley of Fire at Sunset...

I think that looks beautiful and definitely would be fun. Is this going to work with your wedding guests and family? If so, I think you have a deal on your hands! Just make sure you can try out the details such as: see the work of the photographer, taste the cake, see the hotel room you will have to ensure you are going to be pleased with the details. Also, there was a chance to win a wedding on that page, make sure and enter, that would be 'the icing on the cake'!!! Good luck planning and congratulations!

It doesnt include cake or anything like that... it's just a wedding and photo shoot basically (It includes flowers, the music, the minister, the limo ride from the strip to the site, 200 photos on CD, a dvd of the ceremony and I think I read somewhere the rights to reproduce the pics).. You are basically paying for the pics (in my opinion)... As far as guests go, they provide transporation for up to 6 guests--which from what I figure is about right with who would actually come with us... If more come, they'd have to rent a car to get to the ceremony site--which is up to them...the site can handle up to 50 (which is actually about the size of what we would have if it were here--so I doubt that many would show 2 states over).

We probably wouldnt have a "reception"-- maybe something casual at the house when we get home...

I am doing the same thing as you... I am going through www.thelasvegasweddingcompany.com . I will be coming from michigan to las vegas and wanted something other then the regular strip wedding. We are also getting married at the Valley of fire at sunset. You should really check out the las vegas wedding company. I looked at the site that you are checking out and their price is kind of high. I am only paying $574 out the door for the limo, officiant, 150 pictures, video, flowers, all that stuff. I just know that in todays economy the less you can spend the better. Congrats on the wedding and I agree that the choice that you are making is going to be beautiful and exciting.

    Hi,

I happen to live about 15-20 miles from the Valley of Fire. There are some beautiful spots there and March would be a good time of year too, not hot yet and the bad winds usually do not start until April...I have been here for 20 years!! Just remember though you are in the desert, so parts of it might not look like the pics exactly but I am sure these people must know the spots to go for the perfect pics...Good Luck and if there is anything I can do to help being so close, let me know.

Valley of fire is a great location. Myself, I am getting married at a locals casino called Texas Station. One of the things that I liked is the all inclusive package deals plus the fact that it is a ballroom reception without the extreme price of a strip side wedding and with out the tackiness of a glitter gulch downtown wedding.

You might want to try The Ritz of Las Vegas. They have an outside area and inside chapel. The reception is also provided there. They have a great menu from what I have seen and have a lot of table cloth colors. They provide just about everything... We are getting married in January of 2010 at the Ritz of Las Vegas. I could not find anything that was close for the price. www.ritzoflasvegas.com

check it out and let me know what you think.

My husband and I have been living in las Vegas for about 7 years now. We got married in Oct. which was perfect to get married outside. If you pick the Valley of Fire is about 5-10 degrees cooler than the city.

    We got married here: http://www.asecretgardenwedding.com/

This was our 2nd pick (at the time we didnt pick this due to time and price but looking back i kind of still want to get married there): http://www.lakesideweddings.com/

My husband and I are from Chicago and planned a destination wedding in Vegas too. The wedding was very recent last Oct. 5, 2009 outside. The weather and day were perfect!! We were deciding between Red Rock and Valley of Fire. We choose Red Rock and a private spot called Calico Basin for the ceremony. You are right a destination wedding is less to plan and we found much easier. We found a Vegas pastor to marry us, planned for a good amount of photography time in the Red Rock mountains, and then planned for a dinner afterwards at Simon's at the Palms. Very untraditional and exactly us!! Sunset in the desert is beautiful, especially for photos.

Good luck! If you are interested in a destination photographer to travel with you, let us know. - Sarah

I just photographed a wedding in Vegas over the weekend, and I too usually think they can be kinda tacky, but I was shocked at how great it was and it only cost the bride $900 for the wedding, hotel room for 3 nights, and food. I went to her hotel and took pictures for her getting ready then took pictures of them at their hotel by all the beautiful landscaping, I was not allowed to take pictures of the ceremony, but they had their own photographer at the chapel that did a great job, then after the ceremony I took all the group pictures by the chapel and they had a small reception at the Stratophere which was un believeable! They are going to have a reception for their family and friends in town this weekend with pictures from the wedding and DVD playing to show guest. I have done lost of wedding, but I really enjoyed this one and would recomend it to anyone.

We just got back from our Las Vegas Destination Wedding (Chapel in the Clouds-Top of the Stratosphere-the view is AMAZING!) it was SOOOO much fun-I posted some pictures on Wedding Wire, but I have more on my blog if you want to check them out. http://www.weddingbycolor.com/imdawn I'm uploading more everyday..but we literally just got home to Michigan on Friday and our Reception is on June 13th, so I'm still pretty busy =D

23 family and friends went with us from Michigan out to Las Vegas and everyone said it was the best wedding =D How could you NOT have fun in Las Vegas?! We also did a Las Vegas Strip Photo Tour with Toner Photography-highly recommend that and I got my makeup and hair done by Makeup in the 702-highly recommend that as well! Good luck!!! =D

Depending on your budget, there are many beautiful venues to choose from. Try contacting Rio Hotel Vegas. We recently were at a wedding there and were very amazed at what a beautiful event it was!

Sounds really good, but are the hotels included? If not, may I recommend you http://las-vegas.hotelscheap.org/ they go really well with these kinds of "event-weddings" that don't offer accommodations.
