Non-traditional:toast/speech alternatives

Shyan, on February 27, 2020 at 11:17 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 7
I am opting out of doing a traditional toast/speech from maid of honor and best man. Just curious on what suggestions you or other have? I have opted out because I find it to be the most obnoxious and boring part of weddings. (Plus it makes others feel left out, and uncomfortable for speech givers). Thinking about table trivia about the couple instead? Ideas/thoughts? TIA Non-traditional:toast/speech alternatives 1

I’ve seen instead of speeches they do games as you’ve mentioned. Or you could just skip all of that. I went to a wedding recently that didn’t have any of that either, guests just mingled amongst themselves

I wouldn’t replace them with anything else, just gave 5 more minutes of dancing.

Just skip ‘em if you wish.

We only did a welcome speech because it fit our theme and we had fun with it. We changed into pirate outfits during cocktail hour and returned to greet our guests and in French & English (a few guests only spoke French) we said how we stole a ship and were sharing the feast with our mates. Then we were interrupted by Capt’n Jack who proclaimed it was time to drink & dance. Something like that! 🏴‍☠️ 🍹

Forego the boring speeches and get to dancing.

Skip it and just start the party. People will be talking and catching up and don’t like to be interrupted for activities. Just let everyone relax and enjoy themselves.

If you're going to skip them, just skip everything. As I guests, I wouldn't be interested in trivia. I'd rather dance.

Many weddings skip the toasts/speeches and they aren't missed. They don't have to be replaced with anything either.
