Northern va Catholic Church Wedding Donations, How much?

I would advise that you speak to the church and ask for a recommended donation amount. I’m sure this is something they are frequently asked and happy to share. Once you know the recommended amount, you can decide what you and your SO would like to donate and factor it in to your budget.

Is there someone you’ve been in contact with at the church that you could ask this question?

The priest who will marry us, he said the amount is up to our discretion but we're both unsure how much to give. What is considered too much, what is considered too little?

Since he is doing the Princess Bride bit for us during the opening of his homily, we know my fiance's geeky friends will appreciate that and they will likely donate as well. It's not like there's going to be a shortage of money given to the church.

Do you have a good relationship with the priest? Would you be comfortable going back to him and explaining that you appreciate everything he is doing so much, especially the opening homily, and you we're wondering what is the average donation amount couples give? It's difficult to decipher what is too much or too little in these situations!

We have some time to figure this out. I know that my fiance and I will be participating in these Natural Family Planning classes, and he mentioned maybe we can ask someone's opinion about how much to give. Those classes would take place in the spring.
