Northern Virginia (~1 hr drive of Dc) Engagement Photo Locations?

Alyssa, on October 11, 2019 at 6:59 PM Posted in Virginia Planning 1 4

Hi! We are trying to pick a place to take our engagement photos & time is running out for us to do so. My FH has been studying for finals and I've been working a lot so I haven't had time to troll through the entire Internet for hours to try and find the perfect place. I was most excited to do that and pick the perfect place, but I'm hoping this outlet could help us narrow down some top picks.

We're scheduled for October 22nd and looking for a beautiful and diverse spot in Northern Virginia with much to work with. We love rolling hills, open fields, mountains, small or large bodies of water, beautiful old trees, stone walls, bridges, old structures (log or stone houses or castles). We'd REALLY love if there were animals onsite or nearby that we could interact with for part or all of the session (alpaca, cows, horses, sheep, baby goats, piglets, anything with wool, fur, or feathers!).

Does anyone have any experience or know of anyone who had engagement photos done with scenery described above (good or bad feedback on specific places is encouraged!)? Any advice or resources that I may be overlooking?

We did ours at the Virginia State Arboretum! It’s a little further than an hour from DC if that’s where you are coming from.

Other places we considered was Sky Meadows Park, Great Falls Park, and Greenhill Winery. Let me know if you need a recommendation for an awesome photographer that is constantly in those areas!

We had our engagement pictures taken at Meadowlark botanical gardens. I think it’s in the area you are looking for. Very pretty large lake, bridges, trees, flowers, and a stone area. No animals though. We liked it so much we had pictures taken here in the fall and winter.
