Not another rustic wedding!

I swear 90% of pinterest and wedding ideas I find online involve burlap, mason jars, chalkboard, etc. While I like this look, it's not for me or my wedding (despite, or maybe because I grew up on a farm! haha). My wedding venue is a restaurant/banquet in a city setting on the water. Seems everything...

Seems everything I see online is rustic/boho chic/very garden inspired or over the top "glam". I'm looking for something in between and its hard to find... I'm looking for signage, tablescapes, etc.

ETA Please don't take offense. Rustic is lovely décor but just not for me in this venue. Colors are purple, using mercury glass, my dress is ivory lace. I LOVE flowers and lots of greenery but budget may limit this so just looking for other ideas. I'm looking forward to doing more searches using the suggestions provided!

I bought a wedding magazine specific to my state yesterday and everyyyyyything is burlap, mason jars, boho, and pink with chalkboard stuff. Didn't help me for inspiration at all. Sigh. I'm SO over that stuff, feel it's way overdone. You guys are being helpful. I looking for more modern stuff and what I've found is not helping.

Oh my gawd I can't believe another person is complaining about burlap and mason jars! Geez...........Who cares? Basically EVERY SINGLE WEDDING is the same. You may think your wedding is unique but it isn't. Do better research

There are words for what you're looking for, what is it? Classic? Art Deco? Modern? Retro? Renaissance? I can keep going.

You have to know what you're looking for before you get upset that someone else likes mason jars. I don't create posts crying about people who do feather centerpieces and drape fake jewels over their cakes, even though it makes my skin crawl.

Ok I'm seriously having trouble finding ANY "mason jar burlap lace" items on pinterest without searching for those words, or adding the word rustic. Also, now I'm pissed I didn't do the greenery with the lemons, that's pretty as hell.

    'Splain yourself.

People think it's overdone because we it see so much more on here. I've actually never been to a wedding in the last couple years where they used burlap.

I'm using mason jars wrapped with burlap. I personally love the look. ( my UO)

I had an outdoor wedding but still wanted a classic look. I never once used a descriptor word for my wedding and it still ended up being exactly what I wanted. I focused more on color, fabric, bouquet shape/style, etc. Don't get hung up on fitting your look into a "style."

Vendors will ask, but show them pictures and have a clear vision of what you want and it will work out.

I'll admit I am doing the whole burlap, lace, rustic, mason jars look for my wedding but that's my style and personality. I love the shabby chic look, I always have. But it's gotten pretty popular for weddings these days and is trendy but I agree with another post when they said it's because you can make it nice and not spend a fortune. My Mom and I have done a lot of work ourselves and have copied ideas we have found and saved tons of money on decorations!

I agree to expand your search terms. I also found a lot of ideas in the related pins that are listed when you open a pin.

Just depends on what you search on Pinterest. Find yourself a JoAnns or Old Time Pottery and submerge yourself. (Even if it's just online) there's so much going on in there to get inspiration from! We have a whole section specifically called fairy garden that has tons of tiny little houses, chairs, swings, fairies, etc (for the PP mentioning fairy garden center pieces). We have an entire aisle dedicated to weddings. We have a rustic section in our current seasonal set, there's also a Paris section with fabulous decor in our seasonal set and monday we started rolling out our beach collection. Even if you don't see something listed that you think will fit your theme, that was literally only 1/3 of my store just listed (JoAnn's) so I highly encourage you to go scout out the shelves at your local craft stores and see what you can find. It doesn't have to be "pinterest approved". As long as you love it and find use for it you'll be happy

Yes! Everyone on my local resale site is always looking for or getting rid of all of this. Tons of people looking for log slices for centerpieces and decor. And every craft store is filled to the brim with burlap, chalkboard, mason jars etc.

I feel like its been overdone because I've seen it all over the internet, but I've never actually seen a real wedding with this type of decor!

We're having a barn reception since it hasn't been done in our circles before and we were sick of the banquet/wedding halls. Combined we've been to over 30 weddings and each and every single one was at a hall.

There will be mason jars since I'm obsessed with them but no burlap. Never been a fan of burlap.

I hate burlap and mason jars. I'm looking at possibly using wood slices in the centerpieces, but I haven't fully decided. It depends on the venue. One we're seriously looking at is all wood and exposed brick, so I don't think the wood centerpieces would look good. I'm obsessed with lantern centerpieces, so I'm trying to figure out how to incorporate them without doing the same thing everyone else has done.

I've seen it done very nicely, but it's just not my cup of tea. I think that if you like lace and burlap, go for it, but I definitely do see it everywhere. It doesn't help that I live in the south - let me say, trying to find a non-rustic venue in North Texas is the WORST. I had issues finding non-rustic inspiration on the internet as well, until I started refining my search more, so I would try finding what words describe your style, adding those to your search, and going from there!

Maybe try googling ideas with your wedding colors. For signage instead of chalkboards use mirrors, silver/gold chargers, or picture frames. I agree though, burlap and lace with mason jars are about all you see when you google wedding trends.

Thank you @m m! I don't see any of the rustic weddings unless I actually go looking for it. Those that see it everywhere should perhaps learn to search better.

I find the traditional, wedding hall/factory feel overdone but I wouldn't create a post to complain about it. There's a good chunk of brides here that don't find that tacky and it's not my place to put down someone else's ideas.
