Not another rustic wedding!

I swear 90% of pinterest and wedding ideas I find online involve burlap, mason jars, chalkboard, etc. While I like this look, it's not for me or my wedding (despite, or maybe because I grew up on a farm! haha). I swear 90% of pinterest and wedding ideas I find online involve burlap, mason jars, chalkboard, etc. While I like this look, it's not for me or my wedding (despite, or maybe because I grew up on a farm! haha). My wedding venue is a restaurant/banquet in a city setting on the water. Seems everything I see online is rustic/boho chic/very garden inspired or over the top "glam". I'm looking for something in between and its hard to find... I'm looking for signage, tablescapes, etc.

ETA Please don't take offense. Rustic is lovely décor but just not for me in this venue. Colors are purple, using mercury glass, my dress is ivory lace. I LOVE flowers and lots of greenery but budget may limit this so just looking for other ideas. I'm looking forward to doing more searches using the suggestions provided!

No burlap or lace for me but we are using the old Hollywood Glam theme. Without the sequins and stuff...and we are using the mason jars as wedding favors...

    No, it's not.

I literally just googled wedding trends.

    I'm so confused.

Thank you for all the search suggestions. I'm not complaining or knocking anyone who is using "rustic" décor, it is lovely, but just not me. I'm just having trouble finding images of what I want, to send pics to vendors since I'm wedding planning from across the state.

@E&M-I am using mercury glass votives (purchased at Michaels with coupons!) and those same frames for table numbers! I plan to spray paint them silver this weekend.

I'm kind of (no, make that really) over it too, and I just have never seen lace and burlap together tht didn't look cheesy, but keep in mind that most of your guests are not immersed in the wedding world, so they haven't seen it four hundred times.

The press and pinterest have taken all the joy out of rustic. What's next?

Nothing really needs to be next....

We are having a farm wedding. Mason jars will be there but no burlap...burlap look alike but no actual burlap. We are the hunting, fishing, horseback riding kind of people so it only seems appropriate for us.

I have never been to a rustic wedding... I do agree that the "rustic" theme is seen rustic lot on sites and forums and in magazine but I'm willing to bet 90% of people have never been to a rustic wedding with masons jars and burlap.. with that my venue is a log cabin, in the woods do yes I am having mason jars for candles, adorondack chairs and some chalkboards but no burlap. Do I think it's over done? No but that's my opinion and it's my wedding. Do I like big bAll rooms with white walls and crystal chandeliers, no I dont, I hate them. Again my opinion but I wouldnt start a thread just to express my hate for what someone else likes.

My reception was at a restaurant on the water. For the tables we just used white linens and bud vases with a single flower in them. The restaurant had great decor and so we didn't have to do much!

The only thing you'll really find those things if you aren't looking is 'industrial' and 'diy'.

For some God for fucking saken reason. 'Industrial' pulls up barns and lights and burlap and makes me want to claw my eyes out

Same with a diy. (because of the aforementioned costs)

But if you aren't looking for those things you should be able to use other adjectives that steer you away from those materials.

Google images of what you are wanting. That's where I started and found most of my inspirations. I use pinterest to help execute the plan after getting the idea.

Agreed, rustic isn't bad but it's not for everyone. that being said, our venue has an amazing wall covered with old wooden shutters that is just beautiful. I consider that rustic.

the pics M posted on page two are AMAZING. I love the greenery/garland with a lot of white.

I'm not opposed to mason jars, we love them and are using them because they are inexpensive and plentiful. I can see why people get overwhelmed with the look of burlap and lace but I honestly haven't been to one wedding when they use that as décor.

Our venue is a winery, but it is very rustic. We just want fall to basically throw up in our venue. I wont be using burlap cause it's messy. My dress however is all lace and I think lace is beautiful!

Added a stock photo of my venue not set up for a wedding.

Our weddings are identical. Please post great photos of your venue after you get married id love to see what you decide on!

I otherwise don't have any advice as I'm at a completed loss for how to decorate. I get so stressed when I realize I'm supposed to figure it all out and everything is supposed to go together.

I am going full out lace, burlap and mason jars. Our venue is a barn...it makes sense and we love the look. Like others, I have never been to a wedding that was decorated this way. I doubt my guests will judge me too much...our venue will look beautiful!

I think the burlap and mason jar trend reached its' peak in bridal magazines and on Pinterest a few years ago, but people still remember it so well because it was still so "fresh and unexpected" at the time. I don't have a problem with it, but I wouldn't say it's super trendy anymore...it's just another wedding style like Art Deco, preppy, etc. I see way more of the sequin/glitzy stuff OP mentioned on Pinterest these days.

My wedding will have lace and chalkboards, but definitely no mason jars or burlap. My dress is lace and I found a pretty lace table runner on Etsy that I might get. The chalkboards will have info/love quotes written on them (non-cheesy or cliche ones). I'm an avid reader, so that's my way of incorporating that aspect of my personality into the decor. There will also be tons of white christmas lights, candles, some tulle, lantern centerpieces and the reception will be on a golf course. Far from rustic.

My wedding is outdoors, and technically in a yard (it's a big piece of property with a historic building turned vacation rental). Several people have assumed that because it's outdoors and there are areas with dirt on the property that automatically means my wedding is "rustic backyard BBQ". What? No. My mom and sister are DIYing most of the decor (they do decor for weddings, baby showers, birthday parties on the regular) and I had to immediately lay it down that I don't want mason jars, burlap, or tons of lace. We're going for more of a "vintage automotive/desert getaway" theme for decor.

Just about every wedding I've been to over the past three years has been "rustic". I blame country music crossing genres with pop.
