Not another rustic wedding!

I swear 90% of pinterest and wedding ideas I find online involve burlap, mason jars, chalkboard, etc. While I like this look, it's not for me or my wedding (despite, or maybe because I grew up on a farm! haha). I swear 90% of pinterest and wedding ideas I find online involve burlap, mason jars, chalkboard, etc. While I like this look, it's not for me or my wedding (despite, or maybe because I grew up on a farm! haha). My wedding venue is a restaurant/banquet in a city setting on the water. Seems everything I see online is rustic/boho chic/very garden inspired or over the top "glam". I'm looking for something in between and its hard to find... I'm looking for signage, tablescapes, etc.

ETA Please don't take offense. Rustic is lovely décor but just not for me in this venue. Colors are purple, using mercury glass, my dress is ivory lace. I LOVE flowers and lots of greenery but budget may limit this so just looking for other ideas. I'm looking forward to doing more searches using the suggestions provided!

My wedding is in a barn so it'll be rustic. It's what I want. I'm completely playing up my fall theme.

If I had the money, I'd go over the top with a Disney Princess wedding. Don't get me wrong, my "rustic" wedding is not cheap, but I'd easily have to double my budget if I went the other direction.

I'd try expanding your search on Pinterest - or giving up on Pinterest and instead use Google and then Pin stuff yourself.

Like others said, the "rustic" look tends to fall on the less expensive side of the wedding spectrum, which is why it has become so popular. Have you considered hiring a wedding planner? They can really help your dream wedding come to life and make it "you"! If that isn't an option, google searching key words would be your next best bet.

Good luck on your wedding planning!

I doing a geology-rustic theme without the mason and burlap. Just lots of rocks and wood.

Try typing in modern and classic.

The thing with Pinterest is that images that are very old will pop up. Look at wedding blogs and style articles that are more contemporary. Burlap and Mason jars were really big around 2010, 2011. There is a lot of wedding inspiration out there that is not rustic. Especially since a couple of years ago the Great Gatsby wedding old time glam look became big. Also, if you are working with a florist you should be able to get some help on centerpiece ideas.

Not everyone wants a fancy, elegant wedding. Why should their choices be considered less than?

I had zero desire for a fancy, sparkly, elegant, shiny wedding. I had zero problem with burlap and mason jars (because I've never seen it at any of the weddings I've been to), but didn't because I went beach-y instead (since that's where our venue was).

I myself am trying to do anything NOT rustic. I think the difficult part about going away from the Rustic/boho trend is that the rustic feeling goes hand in hand with DIY and a more casual party than any other style. More casual & more DIY = lower cost (sometimes). Other ideas I've tried searching for inspiration just feel campy; Monte Carlo, Casino, Phantom... it seems so contrived and a little too themed for me.

Depending on the look of your venue the city set on the water seems like the scenery could take care a lot of the 'decoration' for you. I'd do some crisp whites and minimal table decorations with a classic table setting. Try a google image search for 'minimalist wedding decor'. That's what I'm trying for.
