Ok as of the 25th of this month I have 30 days until taking my dress in to be altered! I have lost 22 pounds without really dieting. I hate diets! I have been exercising and have now come up with what I am calling the "S" diet. Slim fast, salad and soup! for 30 days I am going to do a diet that consists of a slim fast breakfast, salad lunch, and a soup for dinner. I will take extra vitamins, and drink LOTS of water, and continue to exercise. I will change the soups, and salad dressings so as not to get bored! and this will be a six day a week diet, and on the 7 day, I will eat smart! What do you all think? I know I can do it! When I first started I weighed 249, I now weigh 227, and want to weigh 200 or less by my wedding in 74 days!

Have you figured out how many calories you will be getting for the whole day? Because everyone needs a certain amount so that their bodies don't go into starvation mode. Calorie calculator; http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm (would be even better if you consulted a doctor before starting the diet).

If it were me, I would load the salads/soups with good fats, the right carbs, and lots of good protein, you might be okay. I would also add small snacks mid-AM and mid-PM- I crave protein around 3 or 4pm, something like cottage cheese.

Ditto Mrs S- re: subbing out the Slimfast for a "real food breakfast". In weight-watchers points, you can spend 5-7 points drinking a slimfast shake as your entire meal. Or, you can spend 7 points and have my favorite breakfast- and it really doesn't take as long as you think.

    black coffee or unsweetened tea

    4 egg whites

    2 turkey sausage patties

    1 whole wheat toaster waffle

    1 1/2 cups sliced strawberries

    drizzle honey

If you want to do something like slimfast b/c it's quick and easy, I would personally choose a shake with a much higher protein content b/c it fills me up longer. Again, just me.

    Good luck!!!!!

Be smart with your salad dressings. Sometimes we eat salads but they end up being more unhealthy because of the dressings we put on salads and the added goodies we place on a salad.

Also beware of the soup you are eating. Check calorie count, serving size, fat, count, and the sugars from the soup. Sometimes they also are not as healthy as we think they are.

Sometimes a turkey breast sandwhich on whole wheat bread, lettuce, and tomato is healthier then some salads we eat. And if you add some fresh fruit to the meal you are eating a pretty balanced meal without sacrifing the taste. Add some milk or water and the meal is complete. Just a thought.

Good luck on the last 27 pounds!

My trick with salad dressings is to put it on the side. Dip your fork in it and then pick up the salad. Don't drown your salad in dressing.

I have a shake every day for either breakfast or lunch. Here's what I use for my shakes...

One scoop of an energy powder shake mix. (I buy generic but Slim Fast makes one)

One scoop of whey protein powder.

1 cup almond milk or 1% milk

    5 frozen whole strawberries

Mix in blender and you have a filling shake! And it works out to be approximately 225 calories!! A little more calories if you use milk.

Keep up the good work!! Smiley smile

Not that this is the reason we aren't getting married until next year, but DH and I started WeightWatchers together, and we are both doing great! I have plenty of time to lose all the weight I want before my wedding!! I'm learning good healthy habits and I'm working to stick with it for life. I am now excited about the wedding and about reaching Lifetime on WeightWatchers!

    Mmmm. Shamagne.

I would also suggest mixing things up. At the very least, change out what you put in your salads. Your body does adjust. I was at a standstill with weight watchers for a while. I've been exercising a lot, but I was still stuck. I changed my exercise from all running and strength training. I switched out bootcamp for Zumba. I also finally stopped drinking diet soda a couple of weeks ago. I don't know if it's the Zumba, the lack of pop, or a combination of the two, but I have busted out of my plateau. I lost 2.6 last week and have lost that this week, too. This is the most I've ever lost in such a short amount of time. Needless to say, I'm pretty stoked.

    Good Luck!

I'm with you...I HATE diets!! I have been yo-yoying with my weight for years!! I finally found a plan that works for me (and as a result I am down 18 pounds Smiley smile )

Breakfast; quaker weight control oatmeal with iced coffee (I add flavored cream)

If I'm not swamped at work (which usually I am) I'll eat a midmorning snack: A trail mix bar or protein bar

    Lunch: Grilled chicken, brown rice

Afternoon snack: Greek Yogurt, with Granola

Before Dinner I usually have a couple small rice cakes (I get the munchies at this time) or wheat thins with the 35 calorie Baby Bell flavored cheese spreads on top (heaven!!)

Dinner: Lean Cuisine under 250 calories...

Try eating 6 small meals a day; it will keep you full and make your metabolism burn faster; you can stick with the "S" diet but I recommend eating at least six small "S" meals a day Smiley smile

    Hope this helps.

PS: I also add a vodka with diet cherry 7-up to my night-time meals too Smiley winking

You need protein in your diet. Have a source of protein with each meal. Eat at least 5 times per day to keep metabolism up and blood sugars level. For protein eat white meat chicken breast or turkey, egg whites. fish will really lean you out quickly. This is what i do when I want my six pack abs to show. Eat lots of different colored and veggies for 1-2 meals earlier in the day have complex carbs, such as oatmeal, brown rice, sweet potatoes. Best to have carbs 1st thing in the morning and after training.

With just soup and salad your going to get really hungry and want to give up after 2 days. Protein will keep you full longer.

I do Slimfast for breakfast and lunch. I use www.myfitnesspal.com to keep track of my calories, which is super easy if you have a smart phone because you can actually scan the barcode of the food you want and it'll put in all the nutritional info. I started at 225 six months ago, I'm down to 188 now, and I'm hoping to get to 165 by my wedding. I'm 5'7", and my ideal weight would be about 150.

My FH is doing the same thing; he started at 320, is currently 238, and hopes to get down to 180 eventually (definitely not by the wedding!)

Sounds good...but I couldn't keep it up. I'd need some sort of chicken, fish or beef...

I followed what my sister is doing and just cut my portions in half, drink a lot of water, and cut my carbs. I do sometimes do a meal replacement with a protein shake at work. Oh and I've added more fiber to my diet and make sure I take my vitamins.

I've lost 20 pounds since December...

It's really working! baked chicken and steamed broccoli can really take off the pounds and it's filling too!

    Good luck with yours!!

@Lesli I use MyFitnessPal too!! It's great. Favorite part is how if you're not sure how many calories you've eaten, you simply look it up. Not hard at all.

I hate diets too, and I'm allergic to any fruit with citric acid (which is pretty much all of them) so my weight has always been a trouble area for me. Right now I'm just watching calories, and making sure I try to work out every day. It's hard but if you focus you can do it. Just make sure you are getting enough calories a day. Not having enough puts the body into starvation mode, which will make you bloat and gain weight.

Honestly that is not healthy at all. your body needs certain amounts of fruit, veggies, carbs as in breads etc. I suggest going to buy the book "The Eat Clean Diet" by tosca reno it's amazing! The eat clean diet is not reallly a diet, it's a way of life. There is NO reason healthy food cannot be tasty. You will be amazed! not only will you lose weight but you will notice a change in your hair, nails, skin, and the way you feel. It's phenominal. Also alow yourself ONE cheat meal a week. and that's no like pig out meal. like ONE slice of pizza water and a salad. It's best to have your cheat meal for for lunch because then you have the rest of the day to let it burn a bit while you are active. I personally follow the eat clean diet and instead of three large meals I have six small meals, I am never hungry and I have never felt or looked better. I have to say TRY IT please please please. you will not regret it....
