Not first wedding; White dress?

2021Snowbride, on August 26, 2018 at 5:12 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 24

Hello, i am nervous about wearing a white dress for our wedding. I have been married before, (more than once) however have not had a white dress or the big "to-do" lol I really want the white dress and maybe a veil but for the first time in my life im worried about what people will think. ughh what is everyone's opinion on wearing a white dress for their 3rd (and last) wedding.

You wear whatever color you wish to. White does not represent anything anymore. IF you want to wear white then wear it proudly as honeslty it doesn't matter if this is your first or 90th wedding.

Now days you can wear whatever you want. But most dresses today aren’t really white anyway but more ivory, blush, or gold/champagne. Go dress shopping with an open mind and buy the one you love!

I just got married for the 2nd but last time and I wore ivory. No one wanted or expected me to wear any other color. I'd say go with what you want.

White represented wealth, not virginity as many people mistakenly think.

Agree with everyone here. Wear whatever you want. Most brides don't wear true white anymore anyway because it's too harsh on most people. Most wear ivory. I was a 2nd time bride and custom made my ivory wedding dress and veil.

You should wear whatever you like! I wore a pale pink and gold gown for my first (hopefully only) wedding last year. I love that anything goes these days and you should have the wedding you want whether it’s your first one or last one.

2nd time bride here, and I wore light ivory. I wanted bright white, but it was really hard to find actually. I never even thought about NOT wearing some shade of white. Wear whatever you want!

It’s totally fine to wear white no matter what wedding you’re on. I wouldn’t give it a second thought.

Historical article on why there are white wedding dress

I'd say also lots of people dont look good in pure white and wear cream/ivory but wear whatever you want.

Actually purple represents wealth. Queen Victoria wore a white dress for its simplicity and to show off the lace of England.

Directly from the article you posted “ It caught on because it looked like money. At the time, most women exchanged vows in dresses they already owned, and there was only one group of people who could afford to own anything white: the leisure class. There weren't dry cleaners and laundromats around in the late 19th-century, so it took money to maintain a white outfit.”
Working class families couldn’t buy white clothes because they would get dirty. Wealthy women owned white.

This is my 3rd. I had formal white wedding gowns for the first two. The only concession I am making for this one is it’s ivory (softer look for my skin tone now) and I am not wearing a veil. My wedding this is my last and final one too I am not going to not do what I want just because I screwed up twice before
