Not happy with Makeup and Hair trials

Alexandria, on May 23, 2021 at 1:23 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 4
I’ve had two trials with two different artist for hair and makeup. My curls seems to fall out after a few hours (I don’t think they are using enough product). I’ve had my hair done previously for Prom and my curls lasted me all night. My eye shadow is not blended enough and the artist don’t seem to try to cover up my blemishes well. It also looked like they didn’t blend enough to into my neck. I’m going to have a 3rd done this time with extensions. Do I have to be that specific with at trials or shouldn’t these artist kinda know to cover up blemishes or blend my eyeshadow well? Has anyone else just been unsatisfied with their trials? I’m not a very vocal person by nature so I’m trying to not come off as a bridezilla 😂

Be as specific as you need to. Yes they should know how to do their job, but unfortunately there are many who don’t. Get a trial with someone else if this was a bad experience.

They should definitely know to blend the makeup and cover blemishes. You may have to be vocal about those things if they’re an issue. As far as hair goes though, usually they don’t use the same amount of product as they will the day of.

You should not have to ask for them to blend your makeup. If you’re worried about blemishes, def ask about that. They should be using enough product for your curls to stay, even in a trial (in my opinion). How else are you supposed to know if they style will stay? Try again and if it’s bad, get new artists.

Adequate blemish coverage and not having your curls fall out seems like a pretty basic request to me and is not at all Bridezilla-y!

Curls falling out is a big no-no from me, as are really crunchy curls. I had the same issue with the hair done for our elopement. It felt stiff and the curls fell out, so it just wasn't the right product applied in the right way. When I've had my curls done right they last a couple days at least (I can sleep on them and they still look pretty decent the next day) but when not done well they fall out within a few hours. With my hair I find at least some product needs to be applied when my hair is still wet (like a mousse or texture spray) and just doing hair spray after my hair has already dried doesn't seem to do much. For your trial are they washing your hair and working it all the way through the process or just working with your already cleaned and dried hair? My curls seem to stay best when they have the correct amount of product, curls are done in smaller sections, and they have the correct amount of heat and time to sit and cool.
