Not having any qr codes

Michelle, on March 19, 2022 at 5:01 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 6
We don’t use them and the majority of our guests don’t either. That includes a wide range of ages from late teens to elderly and an equally wide range of tech savvy to not. Even with Covid and everything being QR codes anymore, neither of us have any interest in using them in everyday because it’s an unnecessary extra step. We don’t feel they are necessary or appropriate for our wedding invitations/rsvp cards, but we aren’t going so far as to boycott someone else’s. In our families and circles, people would wonder why we were using them if we did instead of a regular invitation packet. Because they are so prevalent now, it feels like being unique by not using them.

Is anyone else skipping them?

We had not planned on using QR codes for our invitations or details cards. We’ve mainly seen them used for registries, and since we aren’t having one, we didn’t feel the need to use one. However, after recently receiving an invitation with a QR code that takes guests directly to the couple’s wedding website, we are probably going to add one to our website detail card. It definitely saves time and makes things much more convenient for the guest. TBH, I probably would not have even gone to the website had the QR code not been right there.

We didn't think of it until our invitation designer suggested it. We knew we didn't want $$ return envelopes, so we were just planning to include the link to our website and maybe a phone number. But once she suggested a QR code, we thought it sounded cool. We have a wide age range too, but we know that if people were struggling with it, they would call us or my FMIL. Our oldest guest is 91 and she was one of the first to RSVP; maybe she asked someone for help, who knows. Asking people to go to the post office and mail back a reply card is a much longer unnecessary step that could get lost in the mail. With digital replies, they can do it at home and we get the response immediately.

I have a QR code and a customized website link listed on my RSVP card that way they can choose which way they want to RSVP. If they can't figure out either of those, I'm sure they will figure out a way to track us down or we will track them down. Good luck!

We're planning to only do digital invites so we'll probably be skipping QR codes as well!

I think we're just going to list the website. To me, it looks cleaner and people are going to be more familiar with using a link even if they aren't super tech savvy.
