Not motivated to "get in shape"....

Future Mrs. Ezell, on August 16, 2011 at 2:26 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 28

So my wedding now less than 2 months away, have my first fitting this weekend, and I have not worked out the first time nor changed the way I'm eating!!! I don't know what's wrong with me?!?! I used to be SO good about watching what I ate and exercising, but for some ODD reason, now, RIGHT before I get married, I have ZERO motivation to get in shape. PLEASE tell me I'm not the only one. lol. It's so sad and I get so mad at myself. I tell myself everyday "okay today you are going to eat good and exercise"..that's been going on for about 6 months now. ahhh. Guess I'm just stressing.. venting.

Any one have any tips on how I could possibly get motivated?!?!?! lol

Hope everyone's wedding planning is going well!!! Smiley smile

I am in the same exact boat!! I wanted to lose 15lbs before the wedding. A few months ago I managed to lose 5... but I still have 10 more to go and I cant get myself to do it. Today I went and bought healthy food and I AM going to the gym tonight. I am hoping to lose 5lbs before my bachelorette cruise in 3 weeks!!

:-\ I'm no help for the motivation, since I recently found mine 10 days ago and the scale already says I'm down 4.6 lbs Smiley laugh

I'm slowly convincing myself that getting up earlier in the day is the way to do it for me. yea, it sucks to lose an hour of sleep, but when I get done, the high is way better.

That makes me feel a little better that I'm not the only one! The really sad part about it is, where I work there are about 5 different gyms that are ALL free to work out at... and I never go. :/ I even pass one as I'm leaving to go home... *Sigh* I REALLY wanted to be inb etter shape before my first fitting, but that obviously isn't going to happen... maybe I can kick it into gear soon and be in better shape before the wedding and HONEYMOON! Smiley smile lol.

I've been engaged for almost a year and I hoped to lose about 50 lbs before the wedding. Ha ha, what a joke. I think I've gained 7 lbs! Oh well, I bought the dress in my current size so I know it will fit. Maybe I'll start tomorrow......maybe. Smiley smile

@Renee B - Congrats at losing the 5 lbs. That's more than I can say! lol

@Bride i nAlaska - that's awesome! Keep up the good work... That's what I need to start doing, too. It's just hard since my fiance works 2nd shift and doesn't get home till about 11 every night.. it will suck getting up at like 4:30 to work out.. but I guess I'll need to do so i'll be happy and look good! Smiley smile

    YOU CAN DO IT!!

Okay, let this be your motivation-- I was in the same place as you before my wedding, and when the day came, I was *this* close to not fitting in my dress!! No lie! It was a miracle that my girls got me into the dress without breaking the zipper!

Then, at the reception I could barely eat because there was literally NO extra room in my dress! Do not let this happen to you!! Think about it as you exercise!! lol

Seriously, what works for me is tracking my calories religiously. I don't know if you have a smartphone or iPod, but if you do, get an app called My Fitness Pal... then enter in EVERY SINGL THING that crosses your lips! They have a very extensive database, and pretty much any food you can think of will be on there. They also let you track cardio excercise, and it inputs as negative calories which is very motivating.

I find that if I'm going to have to directly input my food and see for myself how many calories it was, I make better choices overall! Smiley smile

I totally agree with the negative calories from exercise being motivating! I use www.loseit.com to track my calories and exercise. I have it linked to facebook, so every time I enter exercise, it's a status update and all of my friends "like" it. I've told them that it helps, so they keep doing it.

I know a lot of people say running/walking has helped them lose weight, so maybe try the Couch to 5k program if you're against running. I did most of it this spring and ran a 5k in April.

I know all too well how that goes, I wil have a week where i'll eat awesome and workout everyday and then just loose motivation and cant drop this weight! and then I have FH telling me how great he thinks I look which of course I love hearing but that makes it even harder to lose weight cuz not that I am doing it for him but knowing he likes how I look makes me that much lazier lmao

Yeah I used to do that ALL the time, back a couple a years ago and I was in good shape cuz i KNEW what i was eating and how much... I need to start that again.. I do it every so often and get discouraged by how much i HAVE eaten, i just don't want to know. lol

I used to be a big runner, but i can't run much anymore because of my knees, but I'm going to try and run tonight when I get home so i can see if i can start doing it on a regular basis...

THANK YOU ladies for some motivation... I just wish i had a workout partner or something, but i don't live close to any friends or family. and my FH and I don't have the same work shecdules so he can't be my partner.. SIGH. Smiley sad guess i need not rely on someone and get to it! lol.

@Courtney, I know what you mean! Sadly, I was at my fittest when I was in a bad past relationship, because I was afraid of losing the guy, which motivated me to work out! What a terrible reason, huh? And now that I have a husband who loves me no matter what, I've gotten lazy too! :/

INTRINSIC motivation... THAT is what I need... where oh where do I find it?? haha

@Future Mrs. Ezell, if you have bad knees, try powerwalking... sounds lame but it really does burn a lot of calories as long as you get your heart rate up! Smiley smile

Your fitting will kick you into gear if you're not in shape. If that doesn't work, go bikini shopping. NO one looks good under retail fluorescents!

@Courtney THATS how my FH is!!! He tells me how great i look and all this stuff and how he wouldn't mind if i even gained a little weight.. that is DEFINITELY not the stuff I need to hear to get motivated to get in shape! lol. It makes me feel good that he doesn't mind i'm not toned and stuff, but STILL! I want to FEEL as good as he says i look and right now with all this "flabby-ness" i've got going on, does NOT make me feel good! lol.

Honestly, I think wedding planning is the absolutely worst time to be trying to lose weight and get into shape. You've got extra stress, and extra demands on your time. Just remember that your FI loves you at the weight you are.
