NOT table numbers?

Is anyone doing NOT table numbers? Meaning, are you calling your tables anything else? FH and I are considering using different types of birds to differentiate our tables (ie Oriole, Mallard, Hummingbird, etc) but we're not totally decided on the idea. Is anyone else doing NOT table numbers, and what are you doing instead?

My friend is doing table numbers but with a twist. They will number them the # of red sox & bruins games. #'s of their favorite players from the teams. # of times they've traveled and etc :-) I thought it was a cute idea.

FH is from Pittsburgh and we're huge Steelers / Penguins fans. Our tables will be named after notable Pittsburgh players. Sidney Crosby - 87. Hines Ward - 86, etc. And naturally our colors are black and yellow. Not an obnoxious yellow though. A nice soft canary yellow.

We are doing themed tables of fictional/non-fictional couples that mean something to us:

    1. Somewhere In Time

    2. Pride and Prejudice

    3. Rainbow Connection (kermit the frog and Mrs Piggy)

    4. Twilight

    5. Tarzan and Jane

    6. Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers

    7. Houdini and Bess

    8. Doctor Who

So the escort cards will have the name of the themed table that they are assigned to.

I actually read somewhere that using table names are better (so people sitting at table 18 out of 20 don't feel less important by any means).

We're doing rides. We're getting married at Disneyland and our escort cards are going to look like fastpasses. Their table will be the ride their fastpass is to.

@Mama Bear I love that. And @Carly - you know, I haven't even thought about people feeling less important with numbers, but that's a really, really good point.

I also went to a wedding where they used famous couples throughout history (they were both history teachers.)

We are thinking of using horse breed names for the tables. I want to incorporate my horses without it being too rustic. Enjoy seeing all the rustic weddings but am more of a bling girl.

I'm going with numbers so there's a logical sequence to the tables. That way people arent wandering thru 20 tables looking for "Cinderella"

If you're table 2 and see table 3 you know you're close.

We're thinking of doing perfect pairings for our table names. Things like:

    Peanut Butter & Jelly

    Milk & Cookies

    Eggs & Bacon

I've seen where people use different song titles for table numbers and when the dj plays your song, that table goes up to eat. (of course thats for a buffet style) you would obviously have to pick well known songs which would be super easy...

We aren't doing assigned seating, so no table numbers either. We may think of something creative for the tables though.

We are huge board game fanatics and our centerpieces will be different board games like Scrabble and Monopoly. To Paris' point we only have about 10-12 tables depending on RSVPs so not as much wandering.

We are naming our tables after signers of the Declaration of Independence since we're getting married on July 4th! Nerdy, I know...haha.

My FH caught my eye with poetry so our tables are short love poems and quotes. Something romantic and different
