Not taking Honeymoon right after wedding?

NaShara and Milton, on January 15, 2015 at 12:41 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 42

This has been a thought with FH and I for about a month and a half now since we will have so much stuff going on right after the wedding. Not sure what to do. What is everyone else doing and why?

We're going 2 weeks after the wedding. We're doing a weekend getaway to a horror convention.

We are taking 3 days after the wedding. Our trip to the Carribean will be in 2017. We are moving from NY to FL 3 months after the wedding. That is enough for this year and next. LOL

We are leaving one week after ( I am off the week in between). I am going to be so tired that I want to sleep in the next day. I figure the week in between I will sort through cards and start thank you's, get my house in order, pack for the honeymoon and spend time with out of state guests.

We left the monday after the wedding for 1 week and i'm so glad we did. i was a very stressed bride that last month and i totally needed the time away just to relax. I didn't realize i would need the down time so much until I was there. and do not look at your phone or email the whole time you're away! i cannot imagine not having gone.

We are going to stay a couple nights in a nice hotel and save our honeymoon until later in the year, so we can save up more vacation time off work.

We're taking off the day after the wedding...I think our flight leaves at 8:30am and we get into Puerto Rico around 3:30 or 4pm. I wanted to leave for our honeymoon within 4 days of the wedding because if we didn't that would have meant that I would have to go back to work that Monday after and the chances of us not going would get more likely the longer we wait. We plan on having kids ASAP, which will limit our vacation destinations.

Exactly, I feel like I would need some time to recuperate afterwards. @soon2bemrsz2015 - You waiting until 2017 for the trip to the Caribbean doesn't make me feel as bad. We were thinking of waiting until August/September of this year.

@Maltese - We also want to try for kids sometime right after as well!

I'm getting married oct, 2016 and we've decided to wait until spring 2017 to go on a honeymoon. We are both hunters so shortly after the wedding is hunting season so we didn't want to have to take too much time off work at once. We did talk about going away for the weekend after the wedding but that's still up in the air at this point.

We've got family coming into town so we'd rather spend the time before and after the wedding with them than escape on our own. Plus, we're paying for our wedding ourselves (dont want parents to pay for anything) so to be more cost concious, we're doing our honeymoon on our first year anniversary.

We want to shoot for about 5-6 months after the wedding. That way we can make sure we can afford it. If we cant, then we cant. But we do wanna wait till after the wedding to look into/ book anything

We haven't decided on where we wanted to go on our honeymoon yet and plus it was best for us to wait few months after the wedding. We want to make sure that we are able to afford our honeymoon.

We will be leaving for our honeymoon a week after our wedding. We didn't want the added stress of leaving the next day. Plus FH doesn't get vacation time at work so he doesn't get paid to take time off. So him going back for a week of work helps out a lot.

My FH and I were just talking about this the night before last. We are having a "destination" wedding I guess you would call it because it is 3 hours from where we, and everyone else, live. We decided that will we stay in that general area for 2 more nights after the wedding. Then we will go on an actual honeymoon in the spring. I can't afford to take 2 weeks off from work in a row because I don't get PTO. Waiting until the spring will give us plenty of time to save up some fun money and will just make things less stressful in general.

Getting married in June 2015 and probably won't take the honeymoon till February or March of 2016. Doing this because we want to go to Rome for the honeymoon. Summer months would be too hot there, FH wouldn't leave Iowa during hunting season and the preparation for hunting season (so basically September - January). So February or March it is. Which is fine with me. Gives us more time to save for it Smiley smile

We will be waiting a few months since I will be in my last semester of grad school during the wedding. We can celebrate my graduation and our marriage all at the same time afterwards.

These are all great points as to why you ladies are taking your honeymoons later on. I am glad that I am not the only one! Makes it easier!

We have too much going on in the year after the wedding, so we'll combine traveling for my brothers wedding with a honeymoon. We'll take a whole week to enjoy FL, and then go to his wedding at the end Smiley smile

This will be about 6 months after our wedding. We're more the "do things" honeymooners, not the "romance and alone" type, so this will be great for us!
