Not taking Honeymoon right after wedding?

NaShara and Milton, on January 15, 2015 at 12:41 PM

This has been a thought with FH and I for about a month and a half now since we will have so much stuff going on right after the wedding. Not sure what to do. What is everyone else doing and why?

We're not, we are going to do a Staycation for a couple of days following the wedding. We would rather go on our honeymoon during the summer months.

We're going a month and a half after our wedding. We both have to be back at school to take care of some stuff but we're getting away right before we start clinical rotations. excited!

It's so nice to see that so many others are also waiting a few months to take their honeymoons! We too will be waiting. We are paying for some of the wedding ourselves and remodeling our kitchen. We are also in an unknown world with the oil industry currently so we aren't wanting to blow our savings on a honeymoon until we know for sure we will have jobs in the next few months to year. But we are thinking about either doing an Alaskan cruise in August/September or go to Washington DC and Boston. We are going to take off Wednesday before the wedding to the Wednesday after the wedding.

We haven't decided yet. We want to go to England/Scotland, and since our wedding is in October, we're not sure if the weather there will be the best then. So we may put the "official" honeymoon off for a bit, but we'll at least take a long weekend somewhere right after the wedding.

We might do a mini trip somewhere or just stay a couple extra days after the wedding. Just way too many things going on in the few months following to concentrate on having a fab honeymoon!

We're going to go away for a week or so the 2 of us, then we're going to take a "family moon" with our daughter for a month. Originally we were going to go in December, now we've decided to move it until March.

Our wedding is in October, but we want to travel to Europe in the spring so we can hit the beaches there when the weather is nice, but just before the coast gets crowded (and also have some time to recoup financially). Don't feel like you have to do anything a certain way. Do what makes the most logical sense for the two of you.

We are going right after the wedding, but we are going to a relaxing, all-inclusive tropical resort. It'll be a time to get away and relax after all the craziness. However, if we had decided on something more adventurous-like a trip to Europe or something that we would want lots of energy for then I would definitely have considered waiting a bit.

We are getting married August 1st and I will be looking for my first teaching job around the same time since that is when schools hire. I decided that we can't wait to go on our honeymoon because I need to be home so we decided to do a 4 day cruise leaving on the monday and then two days in Disney World so we will be home the Sunday. If I didn't have the job search, I would be okay with waiting a couple weeks to do a honeymoon. I would still want to do a mini-moon for a couple days though.

My FH and I are educators (Speech Pathologist and Special Ed teacher) so we only have certain times we can go. We are getting married in September so we decided to do December during Christmas break, so 3 months and going somewhere tropical or in South America. We were going to put it off until June 2016 (go to Europe)...but then we decided not to as we want to try to start our little family! Smiley smile

We are going to do a mini-moon to like San Francisco for a weekend though!

We took a mini-moon right after the wedding and stayed in a B&B. This June we're taking our honeymoon/one year anniversary trip to an all-inclusive and can't wait. I've known some people who went right away and some who waited a 3 months to a year.

We're doing a 2 night stay in the Poconos, maybe an actually vaca on our 1 year anniversary, but right now we don't have the $$ to spend on a huge honeymoon.

Sounds about right. We are doing a mini moon right when we get married for a few extra days and then the honeymoon a few months down the line. Don't want to wait too long though since we will be trying for children shortly after the wedding.

We will be spending the weekend at a hotel at our destination site, since the paper work will need to be delivered on Monday morning after the wedding.

We are planning to honeymoon on our first year annie. 3-4 weeks in Europe; Ireland, Scotland, France, Germany, and the Netherlands.

We're going away for a few nights right after the wedding (literally driving the same day - our wedding finishes at 3) and then going for a big trip at the end of this year or next year (not sure yet).

Our wedding is in June, but we aren't taking our honeymoon until October. We want to try and save up and get caught up financially after the wedding before we do anything. Smiley smile
