Not the Usual Groomsmen Gifts- help!

Anonymous, on October 5, 2012 at 4:18 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 18

We're having the hardest time with finding awesome groomsmen gifts. 2 of his groomsmen don't drink so we definitely don't want to do barware or flask. We thought caricatures at first but learned they are pricey! Looked into nice socks but feel like that's not as personal as we'd like to give. Also looked at small gift sets of shaving soap, loofah, and chapstick by a local all natural company. We'd really like to keep the price as low as we can and are up to DIY something too. Any suggestions? We have roughly a month until the big day!

We are having the same issues. Someone suggested a t-shirt of their favorite sport team? I like that idea, not sure yet what to do.

What if you personalize the gift for each groomsman? There's no reason they all have to get the same gift.

My DH's "go-to" gift for his guy friends is always knife related. Maybe a small pen knife or pocketknife?

My FH was just the bestman at a wedding and the groom had a pocketknife engraved for them. You could probably go to Things Remembered and I'm guessing $30?

We got our groomsmen cufflinks. Each person got a different pair depending on their interests:

What about a small toiletry bag that they can use for travel. My H uses his all the time. He got his groomsmen embroidered LL Bean duffle bags, but they were around $60 each

What about engraved tie pins or maybe money clips. They can be personalized with each GM initials on them, and they aren't barware for those who don't drink.

Not sure why groomsmen are so tough. Most of the stuff I see, I consider 'crap' that guys don't use. My guys are getting Ray Ban sunglasses. Problem is they aren't very inexpensive..so that poses issues but I'm getting them anyway. Just have to deal with the different size face/heads and guess on the right size glasses (mm-wise)

I like the dufflebag idea, Kimber and the watch idea.

We are planning on doing the personalized duffel bag with another, smaller, personalized toiletry bag that goes inside. Most of our WP and guests are from OOT so they'll def use them to come to the wedding.

We won't be sticking to any one particular theme such as barware for WP gifts...we are going to individualize each...monogram organizer tote for the mother of two young kids who is still in college....monogram money clip will be useful for oldest son but also a keepsake, ...engraved necklace for the flower girl...things like that..

Knives are a great gift, they are versitile and even if the guys dont want to carry them, they can display easily. If you get them engraved and you are willing to pay a little more then I would suggest an acid etch, it holds it's form better.

This may be a little strange. I had just ordered myself a set of ceramic knives a 6" chef's knife and a 3" paring knife - both knives came with a sheath. My son was here today when these knives arrived at the house. My son just happens to be one of my attendants. And both FH and I have been going thru this exact same thing as far as what to get him and FH's best man. My son commented on how cool these knives were and was wondering where "his" set was. I thought to myself "hey I gotta remember this for xmas - be a perfect gift". Then I remembered that we needed gifts for the bridal party yet - duhhhhhh. What a perfect gift for both of these guys - they are both fantastic cooks and I know my son already wants these knives and they are only $24.99. If you know ceramic knives then you already know that that's a great price. So I ordered 2 more sets.... Now we're totally done.... whew!!!

We did Phillies jerseys (all of our groomsmen happened to be Phillies fans, definitely could do different teams if needed) and it went over really well. If you are trying to save a little money, I think t-shirts of their favorite team would be great too. I think it's something that will definitely get some use! The duffels are a great idea as well, and although I'm not a big fan of gifting weapons, most guys seem to like the knives idea. : )

I saw online a few months a go an idea that I loved- but FH didn't really like, but I'll share because I think it's different and I would love one...

Personalized steak-branding irons! They're irons with letters you can get them to match their first initial or last name or whatever. Especially if they like grilling I think it's so cool...

FH loves his favorite tie clip.. so we have tossed around the idea of tie clips for each groomsmen, possibly engraved with their initials..

We're also doing "geeky" tshirts.. either of different superheros or pirates or something, then we'll do one of those photos where the guys unbutton part of their shirt to show their tshirts through on the big day.. it makes for a cute photo!

A friend of mine's groom took all of his groomsmen to a baseball game as their gift..

Well this isnt the cheapest idea, but my FH was a groomsmen and they got all the guys personalized bobble heads- FH's looked just like him and was in a superman costume since he likes comics. Another was in an Orioles uniform since he is a huge fan. It was a huge hit. Some places will give a good discount if you order in multiples too.
