November 7th, 2020 Wedding!

Melany, on January 5, 2020 at 4:56 AM Posted in Planning 0 7

Hey everyone! So I am having trouble choosing the starting time for my November wedding, we are not having a first look before the ceremony and I'd love to have sunset photos. I was considering having the ceremony from 3:00-3:30pm and that way we can have portrait photos 3:45-4:20 while everyone is at the cocktail hour. Any thoughts or comments are welcomed, I'm SO excited!

Depends on how long is the ceremony. If it's a short ceremony maybe 430. I know the sunset sets here in the fall about 530-6. I plan on marrying maybe at 5 but small ceremony vs large. Ask your photographer as he /she would know best.

    Hi Melany,
Seems like you have a good plan, but I agree with Kristen that you should check with your photographer so your pictures are perfect!!

My November wedding was at 3 and we had plenty of time for photos before sunset at 5:15

I agree your most important source of info is your photographer. There are simple apps they can use to predict the time of sunset and angle of the sun on a given date for a specific location. Based on that, daughter's photographer and venue coordinator, for her January wedding in So Cal, agreed the ceremony should be 3:30-4:00. They took photos (they'd also done a first look prior to the ceremony) from 4-5, during cocktail hour -- the first half-hour they had a lot of light, the second, it was moving toward dusk. They were announced into the reception at exactly 5:15, just as the sun set.

Thank you! That’s more than enough time for photos.
