Nude vs Ivory- Pics included!

Kelly, on February 3, 2021 at 1:54 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

Hi all

Ive found my dress, but can't decide on color. I tried on ivory over "sand" (which is really ivory) at the store, and the model online has Ivory of nude (which is really more of a toffee). Any thoughts on which looks better??

The one on the left feels grey to me- but could be the lighting. I also like how the bust area is defined more with the ivory, but the nude just pops the white more. Thoughts??

I think it's hard to tell the difference since the lighting is a lot darker in the photo on the left.

I do like the way the bottom looks on the right photo best! I think it makes the white detailing on the dress pop more.

I agree that it’s a little hard to tell the difference in these photos but I lean more towards the photo on the right! My dress has a similar feel with the lace details and I ordered the bottom layer in “rum” (kind of a taupe color) instead of ivory so they would stand out more! I think it comes down to personal preference, both are gorgeous.

I think I like the all ivory "classic" bride look more! I like how the white details pop over the nude from the knee up, but the nude tulle on the bottom is throwing me off just a bit. Both are beautiful, just a matter if you're going for a classic look or something more unique!

My concern is that the white looks grey? Here is a close up- and I lightened the first photo.

I can’t really tell a difference in the color in the two photos. However, both are pretty!

They're both really gorgeous and looks amazing on you! Personally like the classic Ivory/Ivory. I'm not a huge fan of Ivory/Nude in general.

You'll look beautiful whichever you pick!

The ivory over ivory is very timeless and classic! But both are beautiful. As others have noted just depends on what you prefer. Both will look nice

Both look great! I don’t see gray at all! I think the nude is more modern and the ivory more traditional so it’s personal preference and both are gorgeous

I normally really dig ivory over a subtle contrasting color (like champagne, nude, or blush) but in this case I think I like the ivory/sand combination (left) best. The sand underlay is still subtly different enough that you can see the texture of the lace on top and it doesn't all just blend together. I also agree with others that ivory over ivory this is probably more classic, and the ivory over contrasting underlay that is really popular right now might become dated in time.

I will also caution that not all nudes are created equal, and some nudes are more yellow while others are more pink and some are darker and some are lighter. I have fair/light skin with a cool undertone, so the more yellow versions of nude or darker versions look really weird on me and are not flattering at all. So that is something to keep in mind if you have not seen the exact color in person and next to your skin tone.

I agree with you on the versions of nude- on the blonde on the right, it looks great, but when they showed me the color "nude" actually was in the store and put that across the skirt, it was SO dark. I think being very pale, a very very light nude is great. I too think the sand is contrast enough- I am not a "traditional" person, so I didn't want to be very traditional. I'm glad you think the sand is contrast Smiley laugh. I've been back and forth because I had my heart set on a light nude, but this dress only comes in the darker type of nude.

Is there any way to modernize this dress up to be "less traditional" maybe I don't do a veil and do some kind of sparkly hair thing? Thoughts?

The dress looks great on you! I think color the model has on contrast more against the lace which makes it pop, but you can't tell the dress is as sheer in the bodice as the one you have on.

Depends on the look you are going for. Either color looks great though!

I'm way more of a fan of classic white or ivory. I think the nude/tan/blush is more of a trend.

Who is the designer and what is the style of that dress? It looks almost identical to mine. You look beautiful. I have been trying to decide between nude and ivory. I chose Ivory because I want it to be classic, but the nude is what I tried on and it definitely made everything pop. Let me know what you end up going with! I am curious. You are gorgeous.
