Number of Plated Meal Options

Cheyenne, on October 26, 2017 at 4:39 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 24

We are trying to narrow down some options for the reception and I thought of a question. How many options do you give your guests when it comes to dinner?

We had three (filet mignon, salmon, a vegetarian ravioli) and then a children's option for those 12 and under.

We have 3 (technically 3.5) options: filet mignon with lobster tail, truffle stuffed chicken breast, and salmon. My FMIL is the only vegetarian so she will get her own meal.

We'll have 3 plus a vegetarian. We're having filet mignon, chicken francaise and haven't decided on the fish yet - either sea bass or a crabcake.

Typically three is offered. However, FH and I have five options to choose from plus apps, bread service and three sides.

Most plated meal weddings I've been to offered 2-3 choices. The ones that offered only 2 choices was a bit annoying as one was a red meat and the other was a vegetarian option.

We opted for a buffet as it allowed us to have more meal options with our caterer for a better price than plated.

A beef, a non beef (chicken or fish) and a veg should be just fine

We are giving two options, but paying for special plates for people with allergies, or who are vegetarian. We are also having a child's plate without age restrictions.

We aren't actually giving an option beyond vegetarian. We are doing dual plated, so there will be two meats on the plate.

We did beef, chicken, veggie, and child's plate.

We had the option of doing a duet plate, but declined. I'm not a fan of duet plates because a lot of guests don't like both meats and will only get half of the meat they actually like.

    We have 4:

    Beef

    Chicken

    Fish

    Kids Option

Any specialty meals (vegetarian, gluten free, ect.) are given to individuals as needed. We have two vegetarians on the guest list so we'll have two vegetarian meals for sure.
