Nuts & Mints

ShanynL, on June 22, 2017 at 4:19 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 19

Is anyone having nuts and mints on their cake display table? If so, where are you getting them from? My coordinator asked if I was going to do this and didn't know this was a thing.

Like... bar nuts? Or the Jordan almond traditional favor thing type nuts? I didn't know about those either until my mom mentioned it. It's kind of a cute meaning if you google it

I didn't know this was a thing either? I never gave it a thought. For the love of Mike, what else am I not thinking of?

We put mints out on the bar. The venue usually puts bar nuts out, but we had a few guests with nut allergies so we didn't want nuts anywhere! I just bought a few at Michaels with their 50% off coupons!

I don't think I've ever attended a wedding that didn't have some kind of mints and a mixed nut bowl set up near the dessert table. I'm in northern Indiana maybe it's just a thing here.

Nuts and mints? Are your guests squirrels with bad breath?

I've never heard of this but I have a bad tree nut allergy and a few other guests with allergies so we probably would have skipped this even if it was custom.

Mints are a thing but I think this may be regional (perhaps Midwest)? Im originally from Illinois but getting married in Michigan. I really wanted these mints called Cream Cheese mints on guest tables but no bakers in Michigan have heard of them. Growing up we literally had those or the butter mints at every single wedding and shower.

I've seen this at weddings. I would buy in bulk at a place like sams club or Costco (better quality then a party store or some online places.) we are doing peanuts roasted in the shells on the tables for guest to crack and eat while waiting for food. (I think people with food allergies know what they are allergic to and avoid it. I have food allergies and if there's any question I don't touch it.) Peanuts in the shell are a Mexican thing so we thought it would be nice to add because FH is Mexican.

It's fairly old fashioned, but yes, I have seen it done. The nuts are usually the mixed cocktail nuts. The mints were thin and in a matching color to the wedding colors.

I found mints at the bakery where we ordered the cake.

Here is what the mints look like.

    And a Pinterest recipe. http://www.momontimeout.com/2014/04/pastel-mint-patties/

These are what cream cheese mints look like. I have to admit this is one of my selfish desires. I really want them so I can eat them. They are delicious!

These were a wedding staple when I was growing up. Not serving nuts but definitely doing the cream cheese mints even if I have to make them myself.

Mint's and But are not suppose to go on your wedding cake table unless the cake baker say so because it goes with the flavor of the cake. But you can of course put them at your desert table. (And for the people that put up the pictures of those mint desert's? Very nice!!)
