NWR: 21 Day Fix/shakeology

Kris, on August 4, 2015 at 6:21 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 26

I've been on the 21 day fix for a while, this is the start of my second round. I have some free samples of shakeology (I refuse to pay that much for it.). I just can't drink it. I think it tastes terrible. I put fruit and stuff in it and it still tastes bad! I'm going to use muscle milk instead I think. Any ladies doing the fix have any other protein powder suggestions?

@ to be Mr. And Mrs. I got mine from Amazon, with same day free prime shipping lol. @ rosemary, yes it really does work. I can see the difference in inches and a few pounds. I could see it after the first week

Some people use natures bounty shakes instead of shakeology.

What flavor do you have? I drink chocolate shakeo because it is the best. Ive heard every other flavor doesn't even hold a candle to chocolate lol I do chocolate, milk, ice, cocoa, and peanut butter.

If you put cocoa in it it gets rid of the chalky after taste and milk make it more of a shake consistency and makes a world of difference in taste! Shakeo really is the best because of the vitamins, minerals, and benefits it gives.

Lolsenn is right, Shakeo isn't just a protein shake, so other shakes won't be comparable. It does have 17g of protein (at least the vegan ones I drink do), so if you're just looking at protein, look for one that has a similar amount. Vega has great plant-based protein shakes if that's up your alley. It's available online and at most health food stores like Whole Foods, Trader Joes, etc. I don't do whey protein isolates because they're generally not high quality.

ETA: I was really glad to see that this post wasn't another coach shamelessly plugging their business, lol.

Lol I hate those post. And I tried the chocolate, I didn't like it either. I can't shake the aftertaste no matter what I put in it! I know it's got all this stuff in it, but I just can't!

Kris- you can add almond milk! I will warn you, I am a coach, who is not trying to "plu" their business in to you Smiley smile you asked if the Fix works and it DOES! I'm telling you bc I'm proof. I had a baby last September and I started the Fix 6 weeks after I had a C Section....since then I have alternated between The Fix & PiYo. I have consistently drank Shakeo everyday since then. I am down almost 30 pounds since October. I too am getting married in 64 days and I am currently on the Fix Extreme to help me stay confident & at my best for the big day. I am coach bc it worked for me & I want to be able to share it with others..PS look for recipes on Pinterest! My go to every morning is vanilla Shakeo, almond milk & coffee blended! My own Starbucks frappe... & cheaper!Smiley winking good luck to you & congrats!

I love Ump as well. Chocolate is my favorite. I also like strawberry which is weird since it's sweet and I do not typically like sweets!

I tried shakeology and I hated it. I now used the Isagenix program. My first 90 days I lost 66" and 34lbs. It helps a lot when you use a system that has great tasting shakes!

For you shakeo users-- do you prefer chocolate or vegan chocolate? Also, replace one meal or two? I got a 7 day sample kit and actually really liked it for on the go meals.

Shakeology is a joke, sorry. It's just part of another pyramid scheme (Beach Body). I have had several sellers tell me how great it is, how natural it is, etc. I can't pronounce half of the ingredients on the sample I got, I was starving 2 hours after using it as a meal replacer, etc. Just..don't. Real food.

Not sure about the 21 Day Fix. I've heard mixed results. I heard the exercises are great for beginners. The food containers semi-help, but don't seem realistic. Unless you plan to never eat in public at restaurants, in public, etc. because carrying those containers around to Applebee's sounds..weird.

I haven't tried shakeology yet, I have some samples heading my way.

My sister is on the 21 day fix, and she loves it. She's toning up and dropping weight really well.

Whenever I used to do protein shakes, I'd use milk instead of water (skim). I'll let you know how I do with my samples, if I dress it up at all. Smiley laugh

@Nicole the 21 day fix provides a book that tells you how many containers it would be when you're at certain restaurants (pizza, sushi, etc). That's actually what I like about it, you CAN go out to eat & not carry your containers around lol. The workouts on the 21 day fix are definitely not only for beginners. & there's also a 21 day fix extreme for anyone who thinks it's too easy. I stand by beachbody and the 21 day fix 100%. I also really love shakeology. I drink the chocolate, add ice, almond milk and a scoop of pb2. It tastes great & there are so many benefits but in my opinion it's very expensive

I did one round of the 21DF and lost 3 pounds. My pants fit better and by the end I was definitely stronger. I plan on doing another round before the wedding. I don't really need the containers now because I just know how much I can eat now. I never used shakeology and usually didn't substitute any meals for a shake, but if I did, I use About Time protein powder. I get the strawberry flavor. One scoop is 100 calories and there are only 4 ingredients. They also have a vegan option. It isn't gritty and it tastes good. I mix mine in with yogurt and fruit to create a drinkable shake and the yogurt adds more protein, which some days I find it hard to get as much as I need. Also...25g of protein.

The workouts on the 21 day fix really can work for anyone. Beginner modifications are shown, but you can always increase your weights and go harder. I really wouldn't consider myself a beginner and the 21DF workouts are the ones I reach for most consistently because they are only 30 min and they hit all the important muscles. I'm a runner and Autumn's workouts do a lot for your glutes, hips, and core, which are my weak points.

Honestly I find the container system really easy to adapt to eating out. If you use it consistently you get used to the portion sizes and they are easy to estimate. The book has an eating out guide and container equivalents for foods like pizza, and there is so much on pinterest that helps. Recipes, measurements for the containers, etc. Of all the diets I've done, the 21df and weight watchers are the easiest to stick to through eating out, parties, and all the extra fun stuff centered around eating and drinking. I stuck to the 21DF guide as much as I could on my college reunion weekend (without carrying around containers of course) and I actually lost 4 lbs in 3 days. I ate every single meal out that weekend except for 2 breakfasts.

When I drank shakeology I preferred the vegan for taste and ease to digest. I drank shakeology every day for about 2 years, have been off for a year, and I really did like it better than other shakes. I lost more weight when I was drinking it, and I didn't get sick for that entire 2 years. In the past year I've had more colds than I can count, bronchitis that put me out of commission for a week, and shingles. Fun fun fun. Those vitamins and other shit in Shakeo really did work for me. It's just expensive. I'm now planning to start drinking it again more like every other day to stretch my dollars a little farther. I don't want to go another winter without it.

I drink nature's bounty vanilla and chocolate almost daily. It's about $20 at the drug store or Walmart but I get it online from Puritan's Pride for $10 and change
