NWR: Anyone else studying for the bar exam?

I know this is a wedding forum, but the thing that has consumed my entire life (more than wedding planning!) is studying for the bar. Just wondering if there are any other brides to be out there currently studying for the bar. Or, are there any current lawyers out there willing to remind me that...

I know this is a wedding forum, but the thing that has consumed my entire life (more than wedding planning!) is studying for the bar. Just wondering if there are any other brides to be out there currently studying for the bar. Or, are there any current lawyers out there willing to remind me that I'll survive?

Hopefully I'm not the only insane person trying to plan a wedding and study at the same time!

WHAT? NY is switching to the UBE? I thought they would be one of the last states to do so (besides California). That's fantastic!

Remember that the bar is different from your law exams. Memorize the rules and apply them to facts. Did you learn IRAC? I hated it in law school but it was actually helpful on the bar. And remember this is a minimum competency exam. That was actually reassuring for me--I didn't need to be some super intelligent person, I just had to demonstrate that I knew the bare minimum required to practice law. You'll be fine!

@Faran- I start at a large firm in October and can basically kiss any and all vacation time goodbye for at least 2 years, if not longer. FH and I did not want a 3 year engagement, so we decided to get married after the bar.

As for why 2 weeks instead of in September? Well, we thought it was important to have some of my peers attend the wedding and I knew that almost all of them would be leaving the country after the bar for month-long bar trips. It was easy to ask friends to stay behind for a week and a half and postpone their trips, but any longer and I would've had to accept that they couldn't make it. So, yea, seemed like a good idea at the time. So far I have not had a full-on nervous breakdown, my mother and FH have been really great at taking a lot off my plate, and I am constantly reminding myself that I can do this. But it hasn't been easy.

The bar creates LOTS of bad habits... like making up the law. Ooops.

If you need a break or want to talk bar/wedding brain, I'm in NYC too, at least until the end of the month Smiley smile

Faran...I'm so glad you weighed in. Any time a legal question comes up, I think of you. Props to FH. He's going to get there. Everything he needs is already in his head. I guess the trick is accessing that massive bank of stored information when you are under incredible pressure to do so (i.e. -- taking the bar exam).

You must be super woman. I'm currently a paralegal. (I say I'm a lawyer stuck in a paralegal's body) LOL. I've wanted to apply to law school for a few years but have bigger fish to fry right now.

Good for you for not letting life hold you back. You go girl!

I know it was posted quite a long time ago, but I came to know about it just a few minutes ago and writing this comment right after reading it.

Prepping for my second bar exam right now.

http://www.adaptibar.com/ is an outstanding resource. It provides a huge bank of past MBE questions and tracks your progress.

Also good article from this resource https://essmart.org/law-school-essay/ helped me a lot.
