NWR: Belly Button Piercing

Laudie, on January 6, 2014 at 3:35 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 54

I am thinking about getting my belly button pierced. For those of you that have it pierced, did it hurt? Does the ring get annoying? Do you ever wear your ring? Does your FH/DH like it?

I got mine at 20, LOVED it until I found out about a year ago that FH doesn't like it. I thought that wouldn't bother me, but it does. Now I never wear the ring and have a tiny hole in my belly...hardly noticeable, but still there. It hurts less than getting your ears pierced.

My advice would be if your FH likes them, do it, because I love mine. If he is just meh about it, DO NOT DO IT.

I have had mine pierced. It didn't hurt when I got it, but then again, I think tattoos don't hurt. (I have a very high pain tolerance.) I loved mine and kind of miss it but it gets in the way of cuddling and stuff a lot. I took it out because I got tired of it snagging on something while cuddling, playing around, or doing the dirty with FH. Also, FH loves to rub my tummy when I don't feel good and it bothered him that he was always worried about messing with it.

It definitely hurts more than an ear piercing. Mine was sensitive for around a week after I got it pierced. Once I got used to it, it wasn't annoying at all. However, the hole itself really freaked me out, so I never took mine out. It ended up getting infected, even though I kept it super clean. I went to the doctor, because I was afraid to take it out and they took it out for me. After that I never put it back in. H sometimes says he misses it, but I don't want to go through the whole process again. And I heard an old wives tale that if you keep it in when you're pregnant your skin could break open. We aren't having kids tomorrow, but prob in the next couple of years.

    Yes it hurts.

I had it done twice because my body rejected it

Some body's reject surface piercings (like mine) so I got it re-done

    and it rejected again.

I met my FH with it and I've been w/o it for 8 years and he doesn't think anything of it either way.

I tried in college on a drunken whim and the guy took one look at my scars and said no.

I got mine done right before I turned 18. Mine hurt way less than either ear piercings (just two). It hurt for about a day afterwards. I alternated advil and tylenol. I took mine out in 2008 when I got a big girl job and I had to wear higher cut pants. FH was indifferent but now admits that he liked it.

Also, even if you take care of it, it can kinda smell. Sorry for the TMI.

I got it for my 18th birthday, but it got infected a few years down the road so I had to take it out. It hurt like hell to get, but it only lasted a few seconds. I got it redone, but it got infected again I gave up after that. I used only real gold and it still got infected! I have super sensitive skin and it took a while for my body got used to the foreign object, and once it did a few years down the road, it would start rejecting it. I loved it and so did FH. However, I'm so upset because it does leave an ugly scar on my belly button. I developed a keloid (an area of irregular fibrous tissue formed at the site of a scar or injury) from the piercing as well and I'm stuck with it forever lol.

I got one when I was 18. The piercing can get caught on things. I took it out after college because it wasn't very professional since sometimes it may show under clothing. The hole is still there and hasn't closed up and it's been years and years.

I promised FH I'd get it done after our honeymoon. I'm worried it'll look shitty because I don't have washboard abs or a flat tummy.

I've heard some people say it didn't hurt at all, but some say it was hell. I've had pretty much all pierceable parts of my body done at one point or another, so hopefully it won't be so bad.

I got mine pierced when I has 18. That was 1994. It didn't hurt that bad. Little sore for a few days afterward. Never had any snagging problems. It's now been pierced longer than it was without. I don't even notice it anymore. I've had a lot of piercings over the years and honestly, the belly button was one of the easiest, least maintenance of them all.

I've had mine done twice. The first time I was 16 and the weight of the jewelry pushed itself out. I have a teeny scar where it used to be. I then got the bottom done. The top hurt much worse than the bottom... I just took it out after like 8 years because I'm an adult and feel as though belly button piercings are for teenagers. It was time to let it go.

I have one. Yes it hurts, it hurts bad. For a week or two it swells up and is extremely sore, mine was so sore it hurt to wear a tshirt. After that, you never really think about it unless you happen to wear a pair of pants that are natural waist, then they will rub against it and make it really sore. The only time it gets really bad, almost not worth it bad, is if it gets infected. However if you keep it clean and keep it from getting bumped or pulled on, it shouldnt get infected and should heal in a week or two. My own piercing was infected for two whole years but that was because i wasnt worried about keeping my clothes away from it and washing it in epsom salts at night like i was supposed to. If you do what you are supposed to do, itll heal perfectly fine.

However, it NEVER fully heals. Even after ten years, if you take it out, the hole will grow back together within a couple of weeks. It will NEVER stay open without a ring.
