So I just picked up my script for chantex, I told myself I would be smoke free in March and this is my first attempt. I am nervous about all these side effects. Anyone have any experience? Anyone else trying to quit? whats working for you?

@Silan: Thats a great idea!!! I don't smoke either. But my best friend does and she wants to quit but just hasn't found the right way to do it yet. I am going to suggest that to her.

Be careful while on Chantix and make sure your FH, friends, and family know you are taking it. I know a person who tried to kill himself while on Chantix. The side effects are no joke.

I became MEGA b!tch on Chantix. It was so subtle I didn't even realize it until AFTER I stopped taking it.

Something that's been shown in research is that a strong support system, or participating in a support group drastically increases rates of stopping no matter what other methods are being used. Finding a group, or other people to talk to about your experiences could help. Good luck!

I can't speak for Chantix, but I take Wellbutrin. It is another drug that helps with smoking cessation. If you're afraid of Chantix, it can't hurt to research alternatives. I fine Wellbutrin very easy to take, and though I don't smoke, I definitely notice that I'm much more in control or urges. Good luck!

I quit cold turkey March 11th, 2013. I tried numerous different things to try to quit before, but in the end it came down to sheer will and determination for me.

I know someone who read Alan Carr's book as well. It did the trick. I don't know what the method is, but I've seen the results.

I have read the book, and it didn't work for me but I do know people who it worked for. My mom has used chantix and it didn't work as she couldn't handle the mood swings she got on it. A family friend used chantix and was very successful. She took it for 2 weeks and quit and doesn't even need it anymore. I have a box for me, I just don't know if I really want to take it or not. I work in customer service and am scared of the moods if may give me when dealing with irate customers.

I knew a gay guy who took the pills. They gave him "nightmares" about having sex with women!
