I wish I had copied what I was about to say. But really cheap umbrellas are not a smart logistic plan for guests at a wedding even for a short storm.

    So before the ceremony:

Does she have wait staff on hand to dry off the seats? Or are they expected to sit in wet seats with umbrellas?

    During the ceremony:

Will the officiant slog on if a rain burst happens? Or will he/she wrap it up quickly?

    After the ceremony:

Hopefully there's an indoor space for afterwards that guest can retreat to.

Honestly, the best answer is to have a tent or indoor plan. Or if before the ceremony, delay the ceremony by a few minutes until after the cloud burst moves on and have wait staff wipe down the chairs.

Don't hand your guests cheap umbrellas and expect them to sit in a storm even a small storm.

Oh ana. She's not trolling. You just are super optimistic to the point of encouraging bad ideas. If there's a creed on weddingwire, it would probably be "host your guests well."

Trying to let someone know that your guests may not like sitting in the rain doesn't make someone a troll......

Yup Maltese! We told her not to make her guest sit in even a short storm with cheap umbrellas and she thinks we're being mean.

Although I did use a cartman meme....

Ana, I'm far from trolling. I too have an outdoor ceremony. I have two rain back up plans.

Maybe its me, but if I dolled myself up for the day I don't want my hair and makeup ruined. Yes, my hair would get ruined because it is thin yet a lot of hair, so it doesn't stay in ideal circumstances!

It got hidden pretty quickly. Kind of a shame. Nobody got to ask if It's Raining Men was going to be played at some point.

Nope. It's a rehash thread. When threads get hidden (which is SUPER annoying), you typically get 1 to 2 rehash threads.

Actually Ana, its a valid topic that should be left up. We gave good advice in the other thread and it was hidden. Just trying to leave for prosperity, so the question isn't searched for again, that its a bad idea.

Was this thread totally necessary? The girl asked for umbrellas, not for opinions. She even went so far as to explain the weather around her. Although her idea may have not been the greatest, she certainly does not deserve cyber bullying like this. If you can not see the oh so many ways this thread is wrong, than you are part of the problem. Awesome job supporting your fellow brides girls.

ETA - You can call me a white knight if you want, but the blatant hostility this post was clearly created for really got to me today.

People may not want opinions, but just because they don't ask for them doesn't mean they won't get them. And, honestly, if something is a terrible idea and the bride doesn't have a clue, I think it's common decency to point it out just in case she needs a heads up. Or, in this case, beanie umbrellas, which are pretty much the same thing.

FFS Ana...WELCOME TO THE INTERNET. Don't post on a forum that's set up for advice if you don't want someones opinions.

simple rule of life, if you aren't ready to hear any answer...don't ask the question. The rule applies everywhere. She asked where to get umbrellas (which hi...google) but when someone out there is saying "hey i'm going to do a bad thing! help me do the bad thing!" and others say "yeah don't do the bad thing, here are other options to the bad thing." it's really annoying when someone pops in "hey you're all mean, let her do the bad thing!"

@ Lauren, please tell me the point of this thread other than to make another bride feel bad. That is cyber bullying. Or, maybe I missed a memo, and it is OK for adults to act like this now? Or maybe I'm being overly sensitive. I don't know, but like I said, this thread really got to me today.

The reason I started participating on these boards is because you guys are all blunt and no one else in my life will tell me if something I'm thinking is a bad idea. Just saying.

Honestly, if they don't want opinions they shouldn't ask. As someone who has been cyber bullied before there was even a name for it, I'm hardly bullying anyone. I didn't insult anyone. I didn't call anyone out. I didn't name names. I thought it was useful to keep up to continue the discussion for the future of the forums.
