Many of my favorite people have been fired from jobs, and all have bounced back and then some with opportunities they never would have gotten if they had stayed where they were. Sometimes life shakes things up in an unpleasant way, but things turn out okay in the end. Best of luck to you!

My company is going through layoffs right now. I decided a few months ago that if I got laid off, I wasn't even going to look for something else until after the wedding and it would be nice to have some time to just focus on that. I ended up not being laid off (and getting really really busy at work instead since we have fewer people), but I had sort of made peace with the idea and maybe secretly sort of hoped for the break.

Try to enjoy your time - you can now focus 100% on the wedding for a week and not have to worry about anything you might be missing at work while you are out! (Also for want it's worth almost everyone who had been let go from my company, or left because of frustration with the reorg, has gone on to find some pretty cool new opportunities!)

I'm so sorry about what happened. Try your best to focus on your wedding and being married to your SO. Hopefully a better job opportunity will come your way. But for now, bask in the support of your nearest and dearest.

I lost one job because the company filed for bankruptcy and was closing ... was totally devastated because I had bought my first house a few months earlier ... I was only out of work for 5 weeks and had multiple job offers ... I chose carefully and ended up meeting my FH at the company I chose ... life handed me a lemon and I reached for the vodka and sugar

Keep your chin up, you'll find a new job to love... for now just focus on your upcoming wedding!
