NWR: HCG diet, my before and after that I promised

Jennifer, on August 1, 2011 at 8:57 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 17

The diet is done and I promised before and after pics. I have been done for about 2 weeks, but I have been busy so I'm just now getting to posting the pics. I lost 36 pounds in the 6 weeks, so not too bad. It was the version of the diet that has the daily injections that was prescribed by my physician. The first pic is one of my engagement pics taken in April and the other pic is of me last week. I don't have any body shots, but you can see it in my face, and believe me, my middle is drastically smaller too. I went from a size 16-18 to a 12. Smiley smile (the second pic FH was nice enough to make a stupid face, he hates pictures, lol)

Its the HCG diet. It was daily injections for 6 weeks that was prescribed by my dr for medical reasons (like lowering cholesterol and triglycerides and stuff) and it makes you loose weight. You only eat 500 calories a day, and there are only a handful of things you are allowed to eat to make up the 500 calories. Its hard, its controversial, but it works.

I almost did a HCG diet a few months ago but hated the idea of how much it cost. lol.

You can definitely tell the difference between the two pics though! Have you done anything else other than the HCG during this diet? Like exercise? Or just strictly HCG? You look great!

Thank you! No, you can't exercise on the HCH diet, 500 calories isn't enough for strenuous activity, you will pass out. I didn't do anything else, 6 weeks, daily injections, and lost 36 pounds of pure fat. I was only $180 for the prescription (insurance doesn't cover it) and it was a $20 co-pay, so it is pricey, but not obscene. Now I am doing an atkins diet for a few weeks because you can't go from the strict diet to carbs and sugar, its too much of a shock for your body. But compared to 500 calories, I'm eating like royalty on the atkins diet! Smiley smile

That diet works I did it and I lost 6 pounds the first week but I just wanted to lose 10 in total so I didnt follow the 500 calories the second week and I still accomplished my goal. MY FH did it too and he lost 21 in fifteen days.

If you only ate 500 cals without the HCG, wouldn't you still lose weight? That seems very low in Calorie land. Ie- a bowl of cereal is almost 200 calories with milk.

I am glad this is working for you though and you seem happy!

Technically 500 calories is starving, but with hcg your body isn't starving, because it breaks down fat you already have to feed the "baby". So on 500 calories, you would look sick and yellow, with your eyes all sunken in, but with the hcg injections, you feel fine. And I never actually ate all 500 calories, I was too full, because hcg is an appetite suppressant also.

I want to try that so bad, my doc refuses to perscribe it though! I have had a couple friends do it. One it worked amazing on and the other ended up in the hospital. So its deff something to be careful with!

Its a strict diet, but my dr was wonderful, he checked me every 2 weeks to make sure I was still healthy on the diet, and I was. I would ONLY do it under a dr's care. I had never even heard of the diet before my dr recommended it to me. But I'm glad I did it. Smiley smile

Around here there are weight loss clinics that prescribe it, but it costs more money, but maybe you could try it that way, or try a different doctor. Smiley smile

I can somewhat second the diet. I've done it as well, except using homeopathic drops that you put under the tongue vs injections. I lost about 17lbs the first time, in 5 weeks. It's definately not an easy diet but you save money on food! The 2nd round I did it without the drops and instead of doing 500 cals, I upped it to about 700 and still lost the same amount, though only did it for 4 weeks that time. After 3 1/2 weeks I started going to the gym daily and slowly increased my calories to about 1500 after another month. The main reason I did this was to increase my metabolism because I gained 12lbs back pretty easily the first time around in a short period of time. Since my 2nd round I've settled at about 5lbs higher from my lowest back in March and I stopped going to the gym regularly. I'm sure I'll modify the diet again since I want to lose about 20 more lbs, but I know this will be the hardest round for me yet. A google search will reveal tons on this diet, good and bad Smiley smile
