Any soon to be brides or past brides get Invisalign before the wedding?

I had braces until I was about 18 and after that my dog ate my retainer, I didn't get a new one so my teeth shifted back.

I have my first consultation March 3 and I was just wondering what to expect and if you liked them or not?

I had them when I was about 18. They were great!

The only thing is you have to remember to keep them in. It's really easy to take them out to eat and forget to put them back in.

Also, your teeth will hurt for the first few days of each new set, but it works fast and I had great results!

I had invisalign and i finished in September 2014 right before we got engaged. I also had braces, and lost my retainers at about 18-19, and when my wisdom teeth came in, all my straight teeth shifted. I only needed a few trays for my top teeth, and I needed a full year's from the bottom. Unfortunately you need to do the top with the bottom to keep everything inlined.

I think the only thing I wished I knew more about were the buttons that were on my teeth to help shift them faster. They hurt like hell and chewed up the inside of my bottom lip and i needed to use ambasol for like a week. It was temporary, but I didn't even know what a button was until I went in to have them done.

I liked them, my teeth are as close to perfect as you can get, however, i do have a space in between my front bottom teeth (it's really strange, like the tops of the front teeth touch, and the space is at the gums), and I was told the only way to fix that 100% was to shave done a tooth, and I wasn't into that. It was well worth the investment, but keep in mind, it's about $5000.

Thanks ladies! I'm on the fence between the Invisalign and the clear braces that you can see a bit more.

We are having our engagement photos done in May so I think I would rather have the Invisalign so I could take them out during our photo session.

ETA do you get a retainer to keep your teeth in place after you complete all the trays?

I'm finishing up my Invisalign treatment now. It'll be finished a month before the wedding. This will be my second time doing it. My number 1 advice would be GO TO AN ORTHODONTIST! My first time doing them (8 years after braces) I went to a dentist- my teeth weren't the way I wnated them to turn out. My now second time around they are coming out amazing. You should ask how long they think it will take. I got engaged while I was still straightening and I told them I do not want the buttons (they put them on your teeth to help with the straightening) when I get married. I had one on every single tooth! I am now in the "revision stage" after my first initial 13 trays (you wear then for 2 weeks at a time) I got new imprints and a month or so later I went back to get my new trays. Well they told me I had another 13 trays. I freaked out because it was going to interfere with the wedding. They told me they would take the buttons off (I only have 5 this time) but we looked threw the schedule and they decided we could do a 10 day plan instead of 14. I would talk to them about that option as well. It's apparently very common to have them do that for you to help speed up the process. The first week u get them it sucks! But it is so worth it. You are suppose to wear them 22 hours a day. I'm bad and wear mine only at night but haven't had any issues, not don't follow my lead on that. Also talk to them about permanent retainers. I had 1 on the bottom I've had since I was 13. But my top teeth shifted terribly. They are straightening my bottom again too ( I didn't think it needed to be done but it was included in the price, it wouldn't have been cheaper if I only did top so I went with it) I will get a permanent retainer for both top and bottom as well as a nighttime top retainer. It is so worth it with all of that said lol. I hope that all made sense!

The clear braces, aka 6 month smiles, are great. My mom did it before our wedding and loved it. About 1/4 the price of Invisalign. And hers only took 5 months not the two years Invisalign would have taken.

I have invisalign right now! I won't be completely finished by the wedding - but I'm planning on having the buttons removed for the wedding and putting them back on afterwards. There's a small fee for that - but I figured it would be less than the amount of money we're putting into photography!

My FH had had it as well back in the day, so he made it out to be way worse than it actually is to get me mentally prepared for it. I don't mind it anymore. Though I have almost thrown them out or left them places multiple times... oops

Shelley, yes I got retainers (basically thicker plastic and looks like an invisilign tray) that I wear at night. You MUST always wear them at night, or they will shift back. I was in the hospital for 3 nights and didn't have my retainer and they HURT LIKE HELL going back in just after 3 nights. I will never not sleep with my retainers as I do not want this to happen again. I also wore mine the recommended 22 hours a day a majority of the time. If I was going out with friends to a bar, or out to eat or something, I took them out and even left them at home if I thought I could lose them.

OH, and to add, I never had my buttons taken off, but they did polish them up to have them match my real enamel for my sister's wedding. My dentist recommended that option as opposed to having the buttons off. You can't tell in any of the pictures I have them.

I did invisalign. I loved it and the results I got. The only con is that it'll stain so if your a huge coffee and tea drinker just beware of that.

I have Invisalign! As long as you're good about remembering to put them back in after you eat they're awesome. My ortho also switched me over to changing them every 10 days instead of every 14 and it's been going really well! They're a little snug the first couple days, but worth it in my opinion to cut 120 days off the treatment (I have 30 trays to go through). When I first started, I had regular brackets on the bottom because those teeth had to move SO far and Invisalign for the top. They don't normally mix the two, but I was adamant about no brackets on the top (I was Miss Rodeo SD at the time). I really prefer the Invisalign because I constantly had food stuck in the brackets. One weird thing that I've experienced is that I can't wear regular lipstick with the Invisalign. It gets all over them and it's impossible to get off without a toothbrush! So lip stain only for the time being Smiley smile

A&C did your orthodontist have you try soaking them in mouthwash to clean them? I love red wine and I just soak my trays in blue Listerine every morning when I'm getting ready.

I actually soak mine every morning in the 2-3 minute denture cleaner haha - and it helps with staining a lot!

Good to know about polishing the buttons instead of having them removed! I may chat with my photographers to see if they think it'll be hidden. I'm a big teeth smiler - and two of the buttons are on my 'fangs' - which I feel stick out a lot..

I would be careful with anything alcohol related with the trays. I scrub my retainers with foaming anti bacteria hand soap. Why would you have red wine on your trays? you should be removing them for everything you eat or drink besides room temperature to cold water.

MrsLepelis - my orthodontist told me to leave them in unless I was actually eating something...and I'll often sip on a glass of wine while I'm making supper, so I just leave them in until it's time to eat. Sounds like there is conflicting info out there from different orthodontists? I do always make sure I take them out before bed and brush my teeth and give the trays a quick once over with my toothbrush.

I just went for my Invisalign consultation two weeks ago. I'm getting my trays on March 3 (my birthday haha). My treatment is supposed to take 24 months but I'm doing the acceledent (it's a little more expensive) and it will take treatment time down to 16 months. My orthodontist said my teeth should essentially be straight for my wedding in October. I'm so excited for my teeth to be straight. Also I have really bad TMJ (I'm doing physical therapy for it currently). So I'm hoping it will help that as well.

I got braces. I didn't need a full set. Just the bottoms. Problem with the invisalign is the pack of ten was that it may or may not fix, and unlimited is more than I needed. And if you get the one that isn't unlimited, you pay a la carte for each one after at like 250/tray.

Braces were easier and faster for me.
