NWR- IUD AGONY- when does it stop hurting?

I got the copper IUD inserted today and I almost blacked out from the pain. FYI I've never had any children and am not on my cycle because my insurance is over next week so I couldn't wait. I got the copper IUD inserted today and I almost blacked out from the pain. FYI I've never had any children and am not on my cycle because my insurance is over next week so I couldn't wait. But it's seriously so much more painful than I expected. I could hardly drive myself home and I've been curled up in bed for 7 hours. I usually have a high pain tolerance- did anyone else experience this? What did you do to help? Holy fahk.

My was painful to put in and for a few days after...not painful to the point you described but I also have kids and was on the last day of my cycle. When I asked about the cramping the most common answer I got was about 3 days

I felt fine after I got the Skyla. I had no pain except a little pinch when the doctor measures you at insertion. I actually I had to do the procedure twice because the first time the strings fell off, and my doctor had to order a new one. I literally felt good and I was enjoying my day.

OMG...sorry, never had one (I couldn't deal with the idea. I went the easy route -- the pill). My mother had one ions ago (her doctor wanted her to take a break from the pill after 20 consecutive years), and she told me she went back and had it removed because she just couldn't deal with it (and that woman is the quintessential English, stiff upper lip, control yourself, type of person). I'm shocked by your stories -- nearly blacked out, threw up, legs were shaking, days in bed, a cervical block? No way. And that "minor discomfort" nonsense in the face of these testimonials? Just tell the damn truth and stop making women feel like wimps.

I hope you feel better, OP, but if you don't, there's absolutely no shame in saying, "this isn't for me."
