Hey all! I love to cook and have been slowly building up my kitchen items over the past 2 years. However, there are a few things I want to add to my registry, like a Dutch oven. Hey all!

I love to cook and have been slowly building up my kitchen items over the past 2 years. However, there are a few things I want to add to my registry, like a Dutch oven. I know that the Le Creuset is the gold standard but I've read good things about Lodge. Any opinions on either? Especially with the big price difference?

If you're only going to get one, get the larger one.

BTW, I don't know where in NY you are but there a few Le Creuset outlets in the area (and all over the country) that often have fantastic deals on discontinued colors. My husband (the cook in the family) just bought the 7 1/2 quart dutch oven for 50% off.

@firstoneat56 thanks for the tip on the outlets! I'm in Brooklyn.

I have both too; I love my Le Crueset and it's seriously easy to clean.

Aren’t all Dutch Ovens the same? No they're not. Lodge is the first company to apply pre-seasoning to its cast-iron products, which gives them that non-stick quality that’s achieved normally through several uses, giving you the best experience out of the box. Considering its great construction quality, friendly size and a sweet price tag, it makes up for a very good investment for your kitchen and cooking needs. Here is where we bought ours: http://dutchoven.pro/. They have nice reviews and comparison chart that can help you get a better idea of how to shortlist and eventually select the best Dutch oven for yourself.
