NWR: Misuse of word "exponential".

Okay grammar and vocab nerds, this isn't even kind of wedding-related but I don't feel like posting this question to Facebook or anywhere else. Has anyone noticed people misusing the word "exponential" a lot lately? I notice people using it when they really just mean "significant" or "a lot"....

"Advice" and "advise" seem to have switched meanings.

@Jennifer, I hate the "borrow" instead of "lend" as well! Drives me up the wall, and people here say it all the time.

People in my area also say "tending kids" instead of babysitting. I'm always like "No, you tend cattle, you babysit kids." *sigh*.

When FH and I first met, his grammar was terrible (written more than verbal...but he had some funny verbal quirks). No surprise since he barely got an eighth grade education before he was forced to drop out and work to support his massive family. He's improved so much since we started dating four years ago, sometimes I forget how much. Honestly, I'm surprised I was able to look past it at all being the grammar nerd that I am, but I'm so glad I did. He'll still slip up sometimes and I'll tease him, but then he usually just does stuff on purpose to annoy me.

I had a friend ask me if I am going to write my own VOWELS. This was verbal so it wasn't it autocorrect, etc.

I get really annoyed when people say "Nordstrom's".

    Mrs. Kruse-

Omg I'm not alone! That one drives me so crazy. My family and FH think I'm irrational, but man it makes me wanna pull my hair out.

Grammatical errors can be annoying. However, I think it is also important to recognize that education is not provided equally in the US. Many are not privileged with the opportunity to receive adequate education and develop even basic concepts such as grammar. I know many teachers and I've volunteered a quite few public schools. It is depressing how many seventh graders I came across who were barely reading at a 3rd grade level. Poor grammar is not only a reflection of an individual, but also of the shitty and unfair educational systems we have in the US.

    Lmfao

    Any misuse of:

    "they're", "their", or "there"

    "You're" vs. "your"

    "Are" vs "our"

    "DEFIANTLY" vs. "DEFINITELY"

The last one realllyyyyy grinds my gears lol

@FutureMrsRidley it is fucking annoying, that's why I said irregardless. That's another of those words that people use that annoy me, it's a double negative. That was the whole point.
