NWR: Mother's day with your Ex?

I have two daughters (10 and 7) from my previous marriage. And yesterday I spent the day with my kids of course. But then in the evening I was on facebook and saw a "friend" make a comment about how she was upset because the father of her child didn't wish her a happy mother's day?? I never expect...

I have two daughters (10 and 7) from my previous marriage. And yesterday I spent the day with my kids of course. But then in the evening I was on facebook and saw a "friend" make a comment about how she was upset because the father of her child didn't wish her a happy mother's day?? I never expect anything from my Ex about or for mother's day, other than if it's his weekend, that he lets me have my girls for the day.

Am I in the majority on this or is my friend? And vice versa do you go out of your way to say Happy Father's day to your ex?

I'm totally with you i don't expect a thing from my ex to be perfectly honest i had even prepared myself for him to put up a fight since it was his weekend (and by weekend i mean his one night, he only gets my son for 2 nights a month so basically a bit over 24hours every other week) and had already mentally told myself that i would be ok if he wouldn't bring back my son early for mother's day, much to my surprise he brought him back early only cuz it was inconvenient for him to keep him cuz he wanted to go out but i was thrilled, i would keep my son all the time in a heartbeat!

but i guess it would depend on how close their relationship is but either way i don't see why it would bother someone that much but who knows

Not only do I do Father's Day and birthdays/Xmas etc for my ex from the kids but I do his family and his new girlfriend too! This year (she's been around for a few now) they have even gotten her something for Mother's Day (well I have and it's from them lmao) they are 10&11 and old enough to know who they want to give gifts to and I can't see the point in being nasty about it. On the other hand I've never had a single gift or card for any celebration from any of them on behalf of the kids. People think differently about it. I do it for the kids. I don't need them to return the favour. That being said it would be nice if my own new partner would help the kids do something for me but hey! He doesn't even do his own family lmao ??

This is the best response!!! I love it! I think it’s so important to not create unnecessary friction especially when children are involved. I make my boyfriend buy a gift for his ex from their children for mothers, Christmas, and her birthday. It’s a non negotiable.
