NWR - My 3 day cleanse starts today!

Cydney J (Cydney M), on February 22, 2012 at 1:06 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 25

So...after watching carefully what I ate for the 5 months leading up to our wedding...and going on a diet called Slimgenics long before DH ever popped the question...I started eating a bit more...well satisfying rather than healthy...and when my ankle started to hurt again, I knew I had to face the scale...I wasn't thrilled...I had gained 5 pounds since the wedding...10 since the end of my Slimgenics diet.

It's time to make a change! So with that said, I'm cleansing my system today...and going on a very VERY healthy food intake after my 3 days of cleansing.

I told my friend about this cleanse and she did it...after the 3 days she lost 3.5 pounds.

Basically...for the next 3 days I have to consume the following:

2 eggs and 1/2 orange in the morning

1/2 orange in the afternoon

unlimited RAW GREEN veggies

unlimited LEAN protein (I just got a roast chicken and pick at it)

10 - 8oz glasses of water

I can also drink 4 cups of tea, 2 cans of diet 7up and use seasonings

Wish me luck!

I've done this before...it was the cleanse which I was required to do before I started my Slimgenics diet. It's not too difficult...especially when you have a whole roast chicken in front of you and know you can eat it all if you really wanted to! Smiley smile

I'm making a yummy fish dinner for my friends and I on Thursday that will still work with the cleanse Smiley smile

Try it out...it's not too difficult!

Very good. Keep us posted. I am doing a veggie, oatmeal, chicken & fruit diet with only Water as my daily drink. I Love water so it wont be difficult. Good Luck.

I must admit, when I first saw "cleanse" I had assumed that you were doing a liquid only diet. I'm pleasently surprised. Looks pretty healthy. I like that you can have unlimited raw veggies - most people that diet cut those out (which imo is ridiculous)

    GOOD LUCK!

I'm currently doing the detox portion of the Fat Smash diet- it lasts nine days but I'm having such good success with it that I might make it 18. I've never felt better or more energized!

It's great to see other's who are dieting as well, I love the support system we have here on WW!

Kimi - I've never understood why people eliminate veggies ... you should be consuming a MINIMUM of 4 servings a day. Vegetables are so important every day. I think if more people ate veggies over say fried anything...our society as a whole would be so much healthier.

Yes Erica! I'd love for you to try it with me! Smiley smile It's actually very easy...and MUCH more healthy than typical cleanses you see. I love this one b/c you aren't limiting yourself on eating and what you are eating is so good for you! You're essentially eliminating sugars and carbs...if you do this though, you should have a mind set to eat healthy once you come off the cleanse...otherwise, you wasted 3 days. You're always more than welcome to PM if you want more information regarding what you should eat after the cleanse too.

Sarah M ... what is the Fat Smash diet? Also, does it say you should go past the 9 days of the cleanse? Your health is most important.

Cydney, how much was your Slimgenics program, if you don't mind me asking? And what was the experience like?

I have been banging my head against a wall for nearly a year trying to lose the "last 15 pounds". I lost a bunch with WW and exercise but since then I've hit a wall. I've worked with trainers, I've worked with a nutritionist, I've asked the doctor - NOTHING IS HELPING. When I eat my daily WW points now, I gain weight. I've changed all the settings and I'm OCD about tracking everything. I went gluten-free recently and my crazy rash/digestive issues have gone away but I feel....heavier. I exercise regularly. It's making me CRAAAAAAAZY.

It's not like I'm obese but my body fat is still pretty high, and no matter how much I work out or avoid certain foods, the scale and my size just will not budget. I am soooo frustrated. I'll try anything (as long as it's healthy and not crazy).

    Sorry. Endrant. Smiley smile

I bought the book at Barnes & Noble and a bunch of girls I'm friends with on facebook & myself are doing it together.

It basically has 3 parts- 1, detox with a semi-strict list of foods, part-2 introduces some of the excluded foods back into your diet with emphasis on portion control and the 3rd part is the life-long phase.

To me, it just seems like it's retraining me in what I should and should not be eating and definitely focusing on portion sizes. The book doesn't suggest to go past the 9 days with the detox but the list of foods is so fulfilling for me (unlimited fruits and veggies among other things) that I see no problem in it.

FH & I also decided to give up all beverages other than plain water & skim milk for Lent. So, that'll help!!

If you're interested I can provide more details on the diet, like the list of foods allowed during detox etc. Smiley smile

Kris - I paid about $500 for the program...but I had to buy their snacks...which ultimately evened out when you compare to the snacks I was purchasing at the store for my bad eating habits. Slimgenics was honestly the best thing that ever happened to me...it's not a point system and teaches you to eat healthy. I lost over 20 pounds on the program...and have only actually gained 10 pounds back...hopefully by the end of this cleanse I'll be back to only 5 pounds gained since the program. I continually eat healthy, but I do indulge here and there. I NEVER worked out on the program...just brisk 10 minute walks into work and same back home...so 100% of my weight loss was from proper eating. If you have a Slimgenics near you, I'd HIGHLY recommend it! I started the program the Sunday after Thanksgiving in 2010 and hit my goal weight by March of 2011. Also...I wouldn't recommend taking their 'vitamins and supplements' I got sick from them...but I'm also sensitive.

Sarah - it sounds very similar to the Slimgenics plan I was on. I'd be careful extending the detox...your body does need things like protein...IMO I'd move onto the next phase as you'll probably continue loosing weight...especially since your body will adapt to your foods and you'll eventually peak on your weight loss and will need a way to get over the hump.

I do mine hard boiled...but you can do them however you like, as long as they don't have anything really extra...other than pepper and a little bit of lite salt (if you prefer)

I thought the same thing as Kimi thought when i saw cleanse and got worried. I had a friend that did a Liquid only clense for like 3 weeks straight. And of course she lost wieght, since she starved herself. However as soon as she went back to regular food (which was not even healthy food) she ballooned and actually gained more then she started with and gained it all back in less then 48 hours. It was scary.

I like the sound of your cleanse Cyndey and may look into doing it! I def need to eat more healthy. Living in the land of Bratwurst, meat and potatoes is not good for my wedding figure or health for that matter. Plus, I will admit I am a slight junk food junkie...I must drop that habit!

Abiti...I'm not actually going thru the entire Slimgenics diet program again...just doing the cleanse part of it to jump start my health food eating habits again. I didn't gain too much weight since I lost what I wanted, but enough that I need to put myself back into gear Smiley smile
