NWR: Office pranks are fun!

Mrs. Clark aka Mrs Awesomepants, on January 10, 2012 at 10:24 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 10

I work in an office where harmless pranks are not only allowed, they are encouraged! For my office managers birthday, the company president gave me the green light to decorate his office, top to bottom! (All black "over the hill" stuff of course) and the other guys are always doing stuff like putting all the unused chairs into the victims office when hes at lunch.

What pranks have you pulled?

(this is what I did when the office manager took the day off a week before Christmas)

We took packing peanuts and filled my every drawer but one of my general manager's desk. The one drawer that we didn't fill with packing peanuts we filled with tootsie rolls for his birthday. The drawers were so full you could barely open them.

The secretaries at our school wanted to make sure the assistant principal would be happy about Christmas break.

Oh & the only prank I have done in the office is on April Fools Day, I came in super early & on everyone mouse from their computer in the back on the red light i put a piece of small paper covering it, & then the mouse wasnt working & since my branch manager is an idiot with computers, he restarted his computer about 5 times & then called his wife wondering why his mouse/computer was not working ... Took him about an hour to figure out there was a piece of paper in the back of the mouse

We do that too. As well as taking a screen shot of the desktop and locking it so that they can see the icons but can't click on anything

About ten years ago, I worked for a political consulting firm where pranks were common. One of the more elaborate ones was convincing the receptionist that the office was infested with rats. First we talked among ourselves about a 'rodent issue' then we played tapes of squeaking noises coming from the loft area. It concluded with her finding a rubber rat in a shadowy corner underneath her desk, and screaming her head off.

A simple one was to mess with the boss man's company Jaguar. We had double-length spaces with one car parked to block in the other. So if you needed to leave for the night, you often had to move the Jaguar. So we had a pact that every time you moved the car, you had to move the driver's seat forward a fraction of an inch. After a few weeks, we overheard him grumbling that he must be getting taller because he didn't fit in his car.

So, of course, we gradually moved the seat back until he was convinced he was getting shorter.

AAAH I so want to do this but I don't think my office has the sense of humor for it!!! I once kept placing a giant tree (fake, of course) in front of a co-worker's desk each time he left the room.. he got mad after the third time. Smiley sad

Everyone else thought it was funny.....................

I so wish I had a picture of it, but we removed the one attorneys desk, and rebuilt it with cases of water ( all he ever drank was water)

HAHAHA ... unfortunately all of the company's I have worked for, have not been keen on the idea of "jokes" or "pranks" ... plus 95% of the time my job's are temporary (temp person/substitute teacher) I can't risk it ...
